Wasn't there another member here that just went through this same situation with his son and a few other teens? Accused by a retired sheriff, warden, LEO, etc of shooting an AR at night from a vehicle and plead not guilty in court? I tried finding the thread but not having much luck.

I hope they take into consideration that this isn't his first rodeo and charge him as an adult. Could be the best thing that ever happened to him.

Could be the worst too. 3-4k dollars to a kid that age could seem like an impossible feat. It's not anything the legal system can fix. He's the only person that can fix it. Nobody can make him do it by fines, boot up his ass, or jail time. Might be catalysts, but not his saving grace.

Look night hunting is illegal plain and simple. It is also dangerous I do not care if they are my grandsons and get caught breaking the law throw the book at them and it will make men out of them. They know the law.

Ring leader confessed to shooting a big buck a few nights ago also.

I do know a 16 year old up here in TN lost his license privilege for life a few years back after about his 10 offense.
GW said the judge was tired of seeing him and told him next time he would go inside for a year in juvi.

If he's old enough to be required to purchase a license, just like an adult, and abide by the same laws as an adult, then he's old enough to pay the same fines, lose privileges, firearms, etc... just like an adult.

These kids need to realize that they are making mistakes that WILL follow them the rest of their lives!!!
I have a young friend who recently found that out the hard way!!
He is 24 yrs old and got a job offer from a large Paper Mill (GP). He passed everything and submitted to their background check. It came back and he was not eligible for hire!! He had been arrested for Night Hunting and discharging a firearms from a Public ROW a couple of days after his 18th birthday. He did not submit this on his application and did not realize it was considered an 'arrest'. Normally, in those type of situations, they will allow you to re-submit your info and tell you that you need to be sure to include ALL citations....giving you the opportunity to correct your mistake or 'tell the truth. BUT, in this case, with the Company doing the background check being from the great liberal State of California, he was denied that opportunity. Their stance was that since it was a 'Gun Crime'; they had a zero-tolerance policy!!!
Times are changing boys! And, you better teach your children this before they make a mistake that will literally cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars!!!!

Officer Lindsey is as good as they come. Hope they justly penalize the kid and he learns from his wrong doings.

If u can't do the time, don't do the crime. No sympathy for youthful offenders. All that does is enable them to continue committing crimes. Hit him and the parents hard in the wallet, that seems to do the trick. Also ban him from hunting for 5 years or so. Why make his parents pay for the mistake??? I know ALOT of brothers and sisters, that grew up in the same house and had fine people as parents, but one turned out a sorry POS.. Raised in the same house, whooped by the same belt.. Just two different kids turned out different.. SO why fine the parents??

I had a mother that played the organ for church and a head decon for a father. MANY a belt was wore out on me. I have a LONG arrest record. DUIs, PIs, Assults and so on. Point is why should my parent have been made to pay?? Heck my first arrests of Promoton to Gamble was at 17. I have pleaded youthful offender as a you man. PArents of do the best they can with children AND they still turn out bad . But some finnally get on the proper path. Point is EVERONE makes mistakes. AND some get Youthful Offender Charges and turn their lives around. I dont think we should permitly brand our youth for a couple of bad choices. Rant over. I got to get dressed for church!
