My cousin shoots a big Jim bow. You oughta try some real wood arrows. I like port orford cedar. Nothing like the sound a wood arrow makes when it hits home.paw paw troy, Booger and boff both shoot traditonal. I haven't shot mine enough this year to hunt with it.
We will burn that bridge when we get there

]My next step is getting wood arrows. I love building arrows so this will be my next project. The plan is to get it ready for my elk hunt next September.

you don't find those 55/75s to be too stiff????
I shoot a 57# longbow, a Dwyer, and shoot 30" 35/55s with 100gr brass inserts and 200gr heads.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

If you look on the 3Rivers archery spine chart it shows to shoot the 400 spine but its close. I'm sure either would be fine. I spoke with Big Jim and suggested the 400s as well for my setup. What kind of broad heads are you shooting. I'm a broadhead junkie so I'm going try a lot of different ones.

160gr STOS glue on on a 40gr adapter=200gr head, tip tantoed to make it stronger.
arrow charts don't work on carbon shafts too well. You pretty much have to spine test the shaft by bareshaft method to get the right shaft. Center cut of the bow also affects this.

I have some arrows coming in and I'll do some bare shaft tuning. He recommended leaving them full length (less stiff spine I'm guessing) so I will try this. Going fletch with True Flight Feathers. The ones in the pics are gateway. I have some Buzzcuts 125, Zwickey 130 & 160, and Snuffer Originals. Decisions, decisions

to bareshaft start with a full length shaft and the point weight you want. Cut the shaft shorter as you go from the nock end, 1/4" at a time till you get straight shaft in the target. Nock low is ok. If you start with full shaft and nock to the right(right handed shooter) you are too stiff, only option is add point weight.

very nice looking setup,I started hunting with traditional this year,I have a custom Bighorn 64# @ 28,and a super Kodiak 55# @ 28,but I pull to 29,and I have a longbow on the way that I had built by Nate at BAMABOWS it's an Expedition 3 hunter,55# @ 28,I can't wait to get my hands on it.
I would rather be turkey hunting
