They could try to work better with the land owners to keep land in the WMA's. Try to regain lost land. I could care less about food plots.

Skyline needs to get on some type of burn program with all the cutovers. Skyline needs to do away with a lot of either sex rifle hunts. Game wardens need to be seen in other places than the main drag off 79. Food plots need to be planted in perennial type crops.

I've brought up several ideas in the past to some of the folks in Montgomery. They all thought they were good, but of course nothing changed. Don't care to discuss details here, but I will approach them again.

I think the State is doing a pretty good job with most of the WMA's I've been on. The overall quality and age structure has improved over the past 15 years or so.
One thing I think they should do more of is allow HUNTERS to have more involvement with predator control (hogs/coyotes)outside of deer and turkey season. On several WMAs its not uncommon to see more hogs than deer. Naw. The Biologists/Wardens enjoy shooting them during the off season to much.

I would like to see something a long the lines of what they do at LBL and Ft Campbell. Why not lease out parts of the land that could be planted in corn or soybeans. That would help the local farmers this helping the local economy and benefit all wildlife on the WMA. Also, it would put more money into the state wildlife fund from leasing the land out.

I'm confused. Is there a WMA in this state with available Ag land?

Quit making and/or changing the rules, regulations, seasons and bag limits every dang year, especially in Black Warrior. I'm sorry for doing my job. I came in just under three years ago, saw some things that needed changing, got a LOT of feedback from hunters, collected data to support the changes, and did as my job requires. I guess leaving everything alone and status quo is better? That is why you READ the permit. If you read it every year, then changes are not a big deal. If anything, hunting on BW WMA should be less confusing than when I got there, but since people don't read the permit, it's been a big cluster. I'm not going to go into details, but I get asked questions on a daily basis about simple things that are answered on the first paragraph of the permit, if people would just read it.

The constant changes have been taking place longer than you've been there Matt. I never said "in the last three years" did I? B. I also never said I didn't agree with a lot of the changes and I never said things should always remain the same. C. I do read the permit every year. D. If the rules and regs weren't confusing you wouldn't be asked so many questions about them now would you? E. Now you have feedback from another hunter. I'm sorry I wasn't aware that the only feedback accepted by you guys had to be the positive kind.

We get feedback from both sides. I take it all. Everything that comes in is taken into consideration, and personnel has changed a lot on BW in the last few years. It has had a lot if turnover. I don't plan on going anywhere. I want to make the place as good as it's potential allows. What exactly are the problems you see with Warrior? Other than saying quit changing everything, you were not specific.

Why not lease out parts of the land that could be planted in corn or soybeans. That would help the local farmers this helping the local economy and benefit all wildlife on the WMA. Also, it would put more money into the state wildlife fund from leasing the land out. The DCNR leases much of its WMA land from private holders. Sub-leasing probably isn't an option unless the landowner wanted to do this.
