toothdoc- just picked up a doe shot Saturday last night from Country Boys. I usually don't use a processor as I do it myself, but my FIL made the kill and wanted it processed. Country Boys is a few miles from our property so we gave it a try. My initial thought when we dropped it off was that I have seen worse and seen better. I was concerned as there was only one other deer in the cooler at 11 AM. Shop looked clean but not as neat as most I've been in. Turnaround was fast as they called yesterday and I picked up last night. Burger and sausage were packaged neatly but in nothing but butcher paper. Roast and back straps were the same. The cubed and stew meat however were only quart size Ziploc bags (that's it). Total charge was $80 (included gutting and skinning fee ($20). I felt a little better when I picked it up, their cooler was almost full. Probably around 40 hanging up and 4 more just being dropped off while I was there. We had some of the sausage last night and it was very good. The options were mild, medium and hot. On a side note, I was surprised to find a grocery bag full of bones in the box when I got home? Hope this helps.

Just my opinion but I won't take a deer anywhere that don't let them hang for at least 7 days. I've had bad luck if picked up in less than a week just me though.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

I took a deer by there a couple years ago. They called me to tell me that I needed to come pick the deer up right a way as they did not have room in their cooler for it. I pick the meat up to find blood running out of several of the packages. Needless to say I have never taken another deer there again. Maybe they have changed since then, but I was unhappy. All my deer go to Western Deer Processing in Southside now. Cleanest deer processor I have ever used. BTW, Dollars and Country Boys are a lot closer for me. I have used both in the past. Also Western has really good hunter hours for drop off unlike Dollars that closes around dark.

I will not take another there most likely. It's in an old barn, no big deal as long as they keep it clean. The sausage was not very good and the roast was in a walmart plastic sack. They told me my deer would be ready by a certain date before I left the country for a bit. I called and they said they did not get it done in time. No big deal. 2 days later they leave a message on my vm saying I need to hurry up and get my deer because it's taking up room in the freezer. I will give them credit that it's cheap.

From 59 N or S, take the Springville Walmart exit towards Hwy 11N. 5-6 miles up Hwy 11 N it will be on your left. Sign is hard to see and will sneak up on you. Contact # is 205-908-3259 (Mickey).
