Here's what I've got as a back up pair. I'm not sure how they'd hold up if you really used them, but they are great as a back up pair or for guests.

The price is right at $49 too. I got mine last year about this time for $25.

I bought a pair of 10x42 Nikon Aculon at Wal mart the other day for $99 bucks.Used them opening day and was very surprised at how clear and how well they done in low light. When i couldnt see chit with my bare eyes i could still see pretty dang good through the binos.

I have some Bushnell excursion 8x40 that have really impressed me. They were less than $200. I've had them for 5-7 years now.

Just looked them up on Amazon. $128 shipped. Apparently 52 others like them as much as I do. No bad reviews.

I bought the vanguard endeavor ed 8x42 recently and the low light performance is incredible.

I love my Bushnell 10x42. It's older model. Trophy I think. But they're great. Got a pair of Nikon compacts too. They're good but the compact isn't as good in low light as the 10x42.

i have some older bushnell binos that i really like, and i got on a kick a couple of years ago and bought a used pair of leupold and nikon monarch ones too. theyre all good, but the bushnell ones were the cheapest to buy. ill have to look at the model when i can. i keep them in my truck and they go through extreme temps and are still clear after 10 yrs or so. the most important thing is to try them out before you buy them. i wouldnt buy any off of the net, just IMO. if you wear glasses it will matter what kind you buy too. every man needs a good pair or three. lol

oh, i havent found a compact that compare to a full size set.

Happy with mine. Jughead gave good advice awhile back.

Regardless of what has been posted, I wouldn't buy any without looking through them and holding them in my hands first. At least a sample pair before ordering....
