Ok fellas I normally wouldn't do this but my son is 4 and he wants to kill a deer bad! We been practicing with his crossbow for months and he is ready. I have a few places but now that gun season is coming in we cant get out there. We are from Mississippi and I hunt public but setting a blind and getting him a mile back to spot is tough. I was wandering if anyone has a good place that wouldn't mind letting my son come hunt. He is ground blind only and shot max 30 yds. I am looking at Texas but cant find any places that allow crossbow and also say he is to young??? They have a non resident youth lic for $6.00.. That is why I am looking. Id be willing to barter out some of our apparel, etc. I should of joined a club, but looking to lease in a year or 2 and trying to save some pennies. You can check out my site, www.hunt4jesusoutdoors.comAgain just checking to see, prefer south of montgomery.

Wondered that but would( I )need one to take him? or is there a youth lic? Texas has 16 and under for 6.00 non resident. Lets put it this way, he wont let me go unless he does. You can see our video on you tube. He is a great shot and understands the anatomy and where to aim. Only wants to kill one lol, cause that is enough. We are hunting public but tough with a tripod and all gear to get set up, then to not see any every time. I have few places here with buddies but they cant go on the days I can. I just bought a new camcorder and been filming our journey to try and put out a devotional dvd.

I agree with Texas. Nothing wrong with him going with dad, but 4 yrs old is really pushing it. JMO

A 4 year old can kill a deer. My son is 4 and I have practiced with him at the farm with almost 100 shots fired out to 100 yards. He popped is spike this year with only help getting the gun on the bags and me taking the safety off. Best memory I have to date in the woods. Kudos to you for wanting to get your son out in the woods. Hope you get a hunt lined up.

Yes in Alabama, an unlicensed youth hunter has to be supervised by a licensed hunter. Not true as far as private land is concerned. Only youth hunt or some public lands. Also it clearly states in the regulations that hunting can include every act of assistance to any person in taking or attempting to take wild animals. So by that definition you would need to take have a license to take him since you would be assisting him.

I don't see where this excludes youth.

I don't see where this excludes youth. His son doesn't have to, i mentioned that he would though given the circumstances. I was talking solely on the having to have a supervised adult part. Nonresidents ages 16+ (no cutoff at age 64 like residents) are required to have a license. It specifies that in the regulations.
