Day 4..... Fixing to head in to the loc-on I hunted yesterday afternoon on the edge of a cutover and some planted pines. I saw two fat nannerheads and gave them a pass. No need in getting greedy. Emmett is taking the morning off. We're going to lay off the finger ridges til the weekend and let it cool off. We're going to start the hit and run with climbers in a few other spots the rest of the week.

Finally! I killed a big doe this morning with my longbow! 23 yard shot. Dropped her right there. Hit her smack in the shoulder. I quickly put a second shot in her lungs. I was using 175gr tree sharks. Those BH's are awesome!

Congrats Musso! I seen 6 does and one buck slipped behind me at 15 yards right at dark. I was letting my bow down when I heard a twig snap, couldn't tell what he was though. All I could see was the white on his rack and a big body. He never spooked just kept going in the direction he was headed.

As I was climbing down I had a big bodied good sized rack buck trot under the acorn tree I was watching. He stopped and started feeding no more than 15 yards from me. My headlamp never spooked him. That was the weirdest acting buck. I was maybe 6 or 8 feet off the ground.

I ended up sticking a bobcat just before dark. He came out of the cut over about 70 yards from me and I called him towards me. It wound up coming in to 38 yards and sat down facing me. I took the shot ant that joker was up and turning before the arrow got there. I know I got it in the side, but not sure exactly where. Got good blood but it made it into a nasty briar thicket. I'm going to head back over there after I come out in the morning and look for it. Bobcats are my bowhunting Achilles heel. In all of my years of bowhunting I have had probably 7 or 8 in range and only gotten shots at 3 of them. This is the first one I've ever hit.

I've only killed 1 bobcat with a bow. After that one they usually get a pass.
