I was just wondering how many of you guys use cover scents? I just started trying them this season and it seems to be working pretty well. I've had a spotted fawn, a 4pt, and a wide 6pt come by my tree in two hunts and they never knew I was there. I bought some non estrous doe urine today and am going to try it in the morning and was wondering if anyone has used this? Also, do you use a drag rag or something for a scent trail or just put a little out around your stand? Just wondering if it has worked for any of you guys.

I have used them for years. I like to thik that they work but can not say that I have any hard evidence that they work.

No scent killer or cover scent works if the deer are down wind. My 2 cents. They can help, but never truly cover 100 percent.

Hunt the wind!! Leave if it shifts! I guess a drag rag might bring one in on a windless day where the deer finds the scent trail and turns the same way you walked in and investigates. I say windless because if the deer is walking the same way i walked in, my scent will be blowing back in its face. I have just never understood the drag system in any situation other than rut crazed deer hunting.

^^^This is solid advice. I have killed a few deer that have trailed me to the stand with fox pee on my boots.

Why would you use a predator scent?

Bought different kind over years can't say they worked.
Did put out some acorn scent and attract a big coon!
If you lay down and roll around in a hog wallow might be good for killing a hog. Let me know if it works for you?

I have used it as a cover scent to mask human odor. A fox is no match for a deer. It's something a deer would normally smell in the woods, not my size 12 snakeboot. For some reason,(don't ask me why??) deer were curious of the fox pee and would trail it occasionally to my stand. The coon pee was ineffective.

I appreciate the input fellows. If I can tell any difference with it in the morning I'll let you guys know. I've heard that the doe urine will mask my scent and relax the deer because it's something natural to them.

I have had success using Harmons's Interdigital Gland Scent during bow season. You will smell like a deer and not overly alert any others in the area.

Yep. I've had good luck with it. I rub it on some trees on the ground near my stand and spray coon pee in my tree.

I wash my clothes scent free, take a bath scent free, put scent killer deodorant on, spray down with scent killer when I leave the truck, and then soak down in cover scent, either pine or oak depending on where I'm hunting. Seems to work, it is very very rare that I have deer smell me. I used to be one of those guys that laughed at all this new tangled stuff, I'd cut an onion in half and rub my boots down with it, and that was it.
