Yeah, few states have people like us. When I went o my buddy's club in Texas, there was a middle aged couple down there. They both were bowhunting and sat in pop up tents on the edge of a wheat field. We get back the first morning and had heard birds over by them, so we asked, "did y'all kill one"? They say, "no we heard several but they wouldn't come out to the wheat field". Okay, did you try calling to them? No, that's cheating! I was like, yep your right! They left a couple days before us, and I'll bet those gobbling turkeys wasn't there when they returned the following weekend, cause somebody went over there and cheated. Different stroke for different folks I reckon.
This is Aldeer! The place people come to vent their frustrations and completely change their stance a few minutes later...

first time I hunted Florida I was at a commercial lodge. Out of six hunters I was the only one with a shotgun or that knew how to call worth a damn. ALL of them had scoped centerfire rifles.
First morning they dropped everyone off at a feeder/blind setup. I begged off to last and asked if they had anywhere there was no feeder???? Our "guide" took me to the other part of the property and let me out. Took me all of 45 minutes to kill a gobbler. I walked the four miles back to the camphouse. Had to show em the dead bird before they would believe I killed one.
I was the only one to kill a gobbler also.....
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Growing up in South FL, most people I knew turkey hunted with either a 22 WMR of 22 Hornet. A lot of them carried a shot gun too. But like Bhamfred said most of them hunted feeders or sat on pastures.

And TWRA wonders why the turkey numbers are down in Southern TN lol. Fall hunting didn't kill off out population, I don't know what did. I'd wager More turkeys die buy barred owls in the summer and fall than what gets kiled by hunters.

I'd wager More turkeys die buy barred owls in the summer and fall than what gets kiled by hunters. There was sarcasm in there. The first turkeys I ever killed was courtesy of the first Giles County fall hunt.
