That's a step in the right direction.
Just some friendly advice; I'd fire your lawyer with a quickness. You think this is his lawyer posting under his screen name? No, I think it's a man that is feeling pretty hopeless, right now, and might do something really stupid, and permanent , if he doesn't get some help.

Yup, and he is worried about what the rest of society will do with him outside of the fishing tournament world. Cause society will think that if he cheats and lies about a silly fishing tournament then what else will he cheat and lie about? Like bill said, he needs some help so he can move on past this bad chapter in his life.

Gillespie, I don't give a chit about a fishing tournament or the situation at hand. What is important is that you have a family and people that care about you. It's not like you molested small children. Go seek some professional help and move on with your life. It was a mistake but not the end of the world. Seriously, go get some help

As mentioned before we all have did stuff to be ashamed of, some seem worse than others and they get more attention and judgement by other folks. I have judged and joked about this very topic but in reality who am I to judge or joke about it. It's all fun and games until it gets serious. I would have criticized and joke if it were my best friend but when things got serious I would have been there. We all have to ask for forgiveness at some point. Keep the family first and carry on after you have asked and prove your trust to the folks that matter. Just my 2 cents which is less than most folks 2 cents.

Dang Trox...ease up off the tournament fisherman. We don't own the river; we just got there first The respect deal goes both ways. Just as many assholes in "non-tournament rigged bass boats" as there are in them

You don't owe me no apologies but I'm with Trox on this. That's kinda like keeping extra buck tags and killing more than three bucks a season and cheating the system to me. Funny you should mention this LOL... Seems like every time I say something it always bites me in the ass.
So she just wrote the ticket to be a JERK.

Rob, I assume you are being sincere. Your post had me until you said "what I did was not even against the rules of the tournament". You could have left that out. Anyone who has ever fished a tourney would know it was against the unwritten rules.
If you are being sincere than I am impressed by that. That took something to get on here and post that. Good luck to you.

The ones on here aren't the ones you need to be apologizing to. There are 20-30 guys that I know personally that were really affected by your actions. Mr. Sumner is a dear friend of mine, and he took it really hard, especially the way you and Gary Lee tried to blow it off and got a $2 lawyer to represent you guys. I have fished in many of the Tues and Thurs tournaments, and there have been a couple of instances kinda like this, and everyone that is honest and out there for fun and fellowship are the ones that suffer from such actions. Maybe you have learned a lesson. I have known Gary and his family all of my life, and they are still suffering from the greedy actions, loss of business, loss of respect and even the loss of hunting land privileges they held for a long time. So don't worry about the ones on here, concentrate on the ones you know you have betrayed. Get right with God, get right with your family, friends and peers, and move on from this. There are much worse things that you could have done, but life is about learning from mistakes. That is about all I am going to say about the topic.
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go.... (Seuss)

I called Mr Sumner. I've called everyone that I had their number. I made a major mistake. I took advantage of my friends. I'm very sorry for my actions. I hope that y'all can forgive me. Well, if you called folks to try and make things right, you alright by me. You screwed up plain n simple. I've done a lot of chit wrong and had to make it right. If you are sincere that's all that matters I reckon. Takes a lot to call someone you wronged.

It took a lot of courage to come onto a public forum and confess to your actions.
We studied John chapter 8 today in church, many would remember it as when the Jews were questioning Jesus about the Law of Moses and stoning an adulterous woman. It is speculated that the woman was probably standing before Jesus with her accusers either naked or tattered clothes. When Jesus stated, "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." Most people remember that verse, and the accusers slowly began to leave. BUT IMO the most important verse he said was to the woman; when Jesus said, "I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more."
Personally, I believe everything you have said. It will take time to gain trust from those that you wronged. However, time has a way of healing all wounds - even if the scars remain. All you can do is try to make it right through your future actions.
God bless.

Rob,
I have no way of knowing if you are serious or not.
As mentioned earlier, I was rather impressed with your actions until the denial showed itself in your writing of: "I never knew that I was breaking the law... what I did was not even against the rules of the tournament..."
There are some things so simple, it doesn't have to be written out, for one to know right from wrong.
I feel your postings are a hoping to lessen your sentence, and the writings above in quotes are to still proclaim your innocence, since the sentence may not have been issued.
I may be wrong, and I hope I am, though your wording of your post makes me severely question otherwise.
I forgive you, and hope you are sincere, but there will be many eyes watching your behaviors to see if your talk matches your walk.
Prayers for peace, forgiveness of self, repentance, humbleness, building back what has been lost, and sincerity of heart in this matter.
God Bless, David B.
