Put out a gallon of Deer Cane by one of my active feeders thinking they would like the minerals. That camera has gone from getting 8 to 12 deer a night to nothing. Some people say it has to soak in before it gets going and we have had very little rain, so maybe that's it. But they are definitely gone for now.

We use the powder. Just pour it on top of the ground and walk away. They wear ours out.

I was told that the deer are off the minerals by this time of year and looking for mast, save my cane till spring

I had the kind you mix in a 5 gallon bucket of water. They didn't touch it for a year. The next spring the started a small hole, that was 4 years ago and 4 bags of cane later they have a hole the size of a car hood and 10-12 in deep.

Fuzzy, There is truth in what you speak. I think that may be a lot of it.

Really? Deer like natural food more than they like flavored salt?

It's just a little coincidental that spot went from 8-12 a night to 0 on the day I put out the Cane.

My experience is deer hit the minerals harder from spring through summer but taper off this time of the year.

The deer at our camp are hitting the pool salt we bought at Sam's a bunch. We get pics with them standing in it. We also have pics of turkey, coons and rabbits in it.
