My son and his girlfriend went and seen it last Saturday night. He said it was a great movie.
It takes a long time to grow an old friend.

...Germans called the Sherman tanks 'Tommy Cookers'.... Funny thing is...and every Allied tank was out classed by the German Panzer Mk 4/5 The Abrams uses a cannon by the company that made the German Cannons in WWII...120mm Smoothbore cannon from hell

I ain't seen a movie in theaters in about 3 or 4 years, just not my thing, but Fury looks worth it. Say a trailer on the Internet. I just wish Brad Pitt talked like he did in Inglorious Bastards with the southern accent haha that was awesome!

Many of the tank crews at least at the start of the war were from the south. My grandpa who was in one the whole war ,from Africa to Germany said that he was asked had he ever driven a tractor. When he replied yes they told him he was now in a tank battalion. I would imagine that would mean a great percentage were from the south. He hated Patton because in his eyes Patton by insisting that our tanks were not supposed to be in direct battle with German tanks and were just for supporting the infantry. Nobody thought to tell the Germans that and it resulted in hundreds of our tanks being destroyed along with their crews.

My granddad talked to me about his time over there pretty often. I had plenty of time off work his last several years and carried him to Bham very often to see doctors. He told me more than he ever did anyone else in the family about the war during some of those trips. I sure loved that old man and my other papa for their going to war for us all. They were called "The Greatest Generation" for good reason.

Tanks are big, loud, greasy, slippery, dirty, loud, cramped, hot, cold, get stuck, throw tracks, and you smash fingers and bang your head all the time.

My father-in-law was in a tank crew with Patton. He never would talk about it. Went to Church with a man who was a tanker in WWII with Patton..Once we watched a film on Concentration Camps...he got up and left...I talked with him later, said it brought back to many memories to watch it...he could still smell them...said you could smell a Camp 2 hrs before you got to it...

I should have included that Patton insisted on having small , quick tanks with very little armor. They just couldn't stand up to the German Panzers. A 75mm on a Panzer Mark V would go thru a Sherman like butter at twice the range the short barrelled 75 on a Sherman could even engage a Panzer...and it better not be a frontal shot... 88 on a King Tiger was even worse on a Sherman... Talked with a German who was a tank driver in WWII...He was with SS Kampfgruppe Peiper...He'd say they'd kill 20 Shermans...and there were always 20 more...they couldn't shoot them fast enough...same thing about Russian T-34s He surrendered in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge...his tank simply ran out of gas and he had nowhere to go...said that was what saved his life...

I watched this last night. Great Movie.
I think there were only about 10,000 Panzer and Tiger Tanks built by Germany. The US made about 40,000 Sherman tanks. Pure numbers game.

I watched this movie yesterday. Great movie, and I highly recommend it (just keep the kids out of the room due to the language). There's no telling how many men we'll never know of that gave there all just like that tank crew did.

Good...not great. Drug very bad through the middle of the movie...to the point of boredom. The cooking and eating scene with the two German chicks was awful. Seemed like they added it just to add some time to the movie.
