Anybody got a suggestion for sunglasses that are comparable to Costa as far as lens quality? I've got a pair of Costas now but am needing to send them back for the second time due to poor frame quality/materials, in my opinion. I take extremely good care of them but am tired of them not holding up very well. Looking to get something else. Please don't start with the "I wear tinted safety glasses from work", or "I buy the $5.00 brand and they are just as good". I use to be that guy too. The lens clarity and lack of eye fatigue experienced from Costas is awesome. Craftsmanship for the frames, not so much.

Sun Cloud - Lifetime warranty and every bit as good as Costas and only about $50

Maui Jim are suppose to be good. I wear Maui Jim's now after years of wearing Costa's. I don't know what mine are called but they are polarized and top of the line. If you were to buy them at a optical store they will costed you $300.00. You can get them at Costco for $180.00 These glasses have been offshore with me many of times the past two years and hold up great to the saltwater abuse they get. I highly recommend them.

What style frames are you having problems with? I'd have to look at them tomorrow. They are out in the truck tonight. The problem is the rubber pieces on the bridge and on the arms. They keep coming unglued/unattached.

Stay away from Oakley. Had a pair break and went to use the warranty on them only to get told that the warranty didn't cover it. The lifetime warranty paperwork didn't list it as a reason to void the warranty.

I am a costa guy also. I have had 3 pairs. The last pair were the newer fantails. They have been sent back twice due to the reason you stated. My brother has a set of Jose's, sent back twice for the same reason also. $275 per pair, you would think they would hold up. My first two pair gave me no problems at all. Smith makes good eyewear and I am partial to Native sunglasses also.

Check out the brand Kaenon. I have gotten 2 pairs through work and they are comforatable and great lenses. I have a brand new pair of Costas that sit in my truck now because they just aren't as comfortable. A 2nd vote for this. My Costas are now reserved for weed eating and tractor work since I got my Kaenons. The lenses are on par with Maui Jim (better than Costa), but they are half the weight of the Mauis.

I have a set of Maui Jim sports, that I really like. I had an issue with a pair of Costa's and they did a pitiful job of finding a remedy.

Oakley...had mine for a year or so now and they've been dropped, stepped on, sat on and every thing else. Still holding up

Wiley-X for me. I'd wear Oakley if I had a good hookup with them.

I've got more than one pair of both Costas and Maui Jims, and the Maui Jim lenses are far better to me...

I own two pairs of oakleys and love them. I put them through hell without any issues. I have used their warranty once without question because of the frame breaking and Oakley replaced them with a brand new pair.

Man-O-War is the frame style I have. I used to wear Oakley's but quit when they wouldn't honor the lifetime warranty as well.

Maui Jim's are the best out there IMO. I have two pair of Costas and two Maui's. Maui's are just better built. X2. I doubt I buy another pair of Costas now that I've worn Maui's

I wore Costas for over ten years then bought a $22 pair of Calcuttas and can't tell the difference except Costas last a little longer. I'll never buy another pair of Costas, too expensive for what you get. I'll go through two pair of Calcuttas in a year and it costs me $45 whereas the Costas are 3x as much.

I've had my Calcuttas for a few months now and can't tell a difference.
Back when I fished so much, Costas or MJ were best for actually seeing what was beneath the water's surface. I have had 4-5 pairs of sunglasses with me that I would rotate through while trying to see a fish on bed better. Just like using the right tool for the right job.
So, if you are wanting to actually see what is beneath the water's surface as clearly as possible, I would say Costa or Maui Jim.
But if you are like me and that isn't nearly as much of a factor as just having a pair of quality polarized glasses that are comfortable...go with the Calcuttas

Ocean Waves brand are worth a look. Comparable to Costas IMO.

I'm wearing the same pair of oakleys I wore in Iraq through 17 months of war. Same set for 7 years now replaced the lenses once $75. I won't buy another brand of glasses. They broke across the bridge of my nose in Iraq in an explosion Oakley sent me a new pair and couple sets of different color lenses to try. They have my business for life

I bought a pair of Typhoon sunglasses 6 weeks ago or so to replace my last pair of Costas. The lenses are very clear and they work well. I had the 580 lenses in my Costas and like that lense better but I am seriously rough on sunglasses. They get worn for protection while cutting and grinding metal so they get abused. The Typhoons are very good glasses. So good that I haven't sent what's left of my Costas back yet.
