Found out today I have a herniated disk in L5. Any of you guys ever had this?

Herniated my C4-C5 three years ago. Worst pain of my life for about 6 weeks. Felt like someone put a knife in my shoulder and cut my arm all the way down to my left pinkie. My surgeon wanted me to have fusion surgery. I decided to wait it out and see what happened. A couple months later I felt much better and could function again. Today, I am pain free and have no problems with it.

Herniated or ruptured discs suck! Stay hydrated and stretch often.

Sounds like the same kind of pain except mine in my lower back and the sharp, burning pain goes down my left leg. Doc said my days of jumping from airplanes is probably over.

Got 2. It sucks butt I've learned to deal with them for the past 2 years. Some days are tough. It's best to stay loose and be smart.

Really?

Have three herniated and two bulging. Some days just straight up suck. Epidural injections help with the pain a few months at a time. Battled with them for several years after an ATV accident.

Been there done that. Hurts like hell too. Dr. Troy Middleton in Mobile fixed me right up though. As long as I keep the weight down, all is good.

I came, I saw, so I killed them all......Vern

central ala,
Had 2 in my neck. Had surgery in May. Still some pain on rainy or cool days. In such pain I had to have relief. Was actually looking forward to the surgery for relief until in the operating room and they told me they were going to put a catheter in. HELL NAW!!!!!!!!!! You can't put a garden hose in a McDonalds straw without ripping something!! I'm still kinda partial to the little fellow. They agreed to go in and out while I was knocked out.

I don't know...been hurting for years. Played sports until in my 30's. lived hard and played rough. If I had known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.

Where did you have your procedure done? I wasn't tubed up, I had a breathing tube though. it does get better though, I don't have any pain anymore and it was about 5 months until 98% of the pain was gone

Mine was a sports injury that I waited ten years to get fixed.

central ala,
Dr. Rigsby in Montgomery at Jackson Hosp. did mine. I really don't know what all I had done because I just needed relief. They talk all that stuff I don't understand. I know he said it was really bad. Said I had 2 fusions, 2 disc replaced, 2 metal plates, and 8 screws. On a side note: This is my biggest reason a few years ago going to 20 gauges over 12 gauges. I love them now and wish I had done it sooner.
