I've started using campfire smoke as a cover scent. Both Friday and yesterday I built a small little fire, started with a propane torch, and smoked up all my clothing gear and myself. Well Friday afternoon around 6 I had a deer cross behind me, directly into my scent cone. Typically deer on this property will blow and run off. Well she could smell something but continued to feed down the ridge. And every so often she would throw her head up in the air to try and pinpoint the smell. Yesterday I didn't have anything come in from downwind so I wasn't able to test the theory.

Anyone else using this method?

I've been using it for 3 years or so. I've had deer come in or cross downwind several times. It's not perfect but it's the best thing I've tried.

I have a bee smoker that I use. I keep some dry water oak leaves and usually just pick up a few twigs to put into it.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Yes. I think it's the same principle as smoking meat. it inhibits bacteria growth.

Been doing it for years, not 100% of the time. But when I actually care about scent, I smoke up.

I've read that you can de-skunk a dog by holding it over smoke.

A lighter stump fire is the Best cover scent. Did it for many years on public land and killed plenty.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Lighting the stump on fire and waiting for them to run by don't count.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!
