What's a good handgun for concealed carry.

Looking for something small I could just stick in my front pocket

Reliable and cheap.

Are there better choices than a 22 revolver? I have a couple pistols just nothing really small enough for everyday carry.

I carry my XDS 45 in my front pocket. I don't even notice that it's there. I love it.

I don't know if I'd feel too comfortable about having it in my front pocket unless you wear really baggy pants and dont print.

I had an XDS and loved it but the capacity was not very fun. I carry a M&P9c now 12 rounds. But I have a nice IWB holster and can get to it fast without worry of snagging on pants or piercing a hole in my leg

You can look into pocket 380's but honestly, you can carry a small thin 9mm in an IWB holster just about as easy. I carry both ways and mostly only carry a pocket pistol when I go shirtless with shorts in the summer.

A good friend just picked up a Glock 42 (.380) that is less than an inch thick and light as anything I've ever shot. I carried it around all weekend and was impressed with it. I'd say it's on par with Kahr's I've carried/shot in the past. I'd pick one up in a heartbeat if I was in the market.

I know some people would disaggree but I'm a fan of Keltec 32 and 380 calibers I own one each and for the money they are hard to beat.

I have an Airweight 638 now for about 3 years. It's the best carrying gun I've ever had. I carry IWB most of the time, but I also have a pocket holster.

The thing about a Jframe is that, IMO, it conceals so much easier than most semi autos. It's bc of the round shape of the gun. It is MUCH easier to keep from printing in a t shirt bc of the shape of the grip, and the cylinder makes a natural round shape in your pocket vs the block shape of an auto.

Also, a Jframe draws from a pocket 10x easier than a semiauto. Again, its the shape of the gun that allows your hand and the grip to come out first, instead of the back of the slide that can potentially catch on your pocket.

Then there is reliability. You can feed it whatever 38 ammo you want to. FMJ, hollow point, SWC, and +P. It doesn't matter. It works 100% of the time.

I have owned and or shot a lot of the mouse guns. I simply don't trust them. I have had bad experiences with NAA and Kel-tec in particular. Both went in for service work only to never work right again. The Jframe is the only pocket size gun i would trust.

If you must have an auto, step up to the single stack 9mm. The Shield and XDs would be on my short list. I can see a Shield in my future.

I like the revolvers but I've never seen one small enough for pocket carry. Sure I could wear baggy enough pants or shorts but if I wanted to do that I would get an even larger pistol for the pocket.

I have a Kahr P-380 for pocket carry and a Glock 36 for IWB carry. They both perfectly fit that particular role.

x2. I carry the glock 42 also. It's a very nice CC gun, easy and comfortable to conceal. You can also carry it anywhere. I usually appendix carry this gun but can also carry it in your pocket. I have a NA 22lr 5 shot revolver that I carry sometimes too. Some people like it and some don't. That's my 0.02!

Sold my LC9 and plan to buy the LC9S when I get a chance to get to BPW.
I like the size and I won't carry anything less than a 9mm.

Why do you guys like the Glock 42 so well when there are plenty of 9mm's just as small? I would have bought one if it had been produced in a 9mm.

Good question. The Shield is everything the 42 should have been.

I'm waiting on Shield w/o the manual safety.

Because Glock is 1 of the most indestructible, pistols in the world. Just look at all the torture testes done on them. The US military has even tested them, but didnt want a pistol without a hammer. And i know for a FACT that contractors are using them in the middle east right now! Glock is a tuff pistol. I have ths of rounds thew Glocks and 0 jams so far! thumbup

I guess my point isn't that the Glock isn't a good pistol, but that the only reason I ever pick up a 380 to carry is because I want the ultimate in conceal ability. If I am going to pick a 380 that's as large as a 9mm, then what's the point?

I can agree with that. I like the Ruger Lcp 380. My point was just that some my pick the Glock for reliability. With todays ammo the +p can be a good choice in 380.
