Well I'll start it off ... After 3 days of no luck and nothing really to get excited about I took off yesterday and spent some time at home. I'm heading out again to this spot. I haven't seen anything there on cams for 3-4 weeks since the acorns started dropping. Hoping that the colder weather will cause a pattern change and I'll get a shot ... Vernal pool at a spot I've scouted all year

An owl just lit on a limb about 3 yards from me, so cool. No signs of deer so far
Good luck to you

Just heard a deep grunt about 60-70 yards in front of me. Wind is from my right so I'm good so far. Never killed a buck or with a bow ...hope today is my first for both

I'm set up 2 ridges south of where I was yesterday morning. Emmett is set up about 350 yards to my 4 o'clock position on the acorn flat across the creek. Just after it got light enough to see I had a big bodied deer slip by me at about 60 yards. Never could tell what it was. Hoping it takes a left and goes by Emmett.

I tried but my movement sent them off. Dang yotes are in a thicket about 150 yes from me. Heard them before daylight and twice afterward howling/ barking. Don't know if it's a den or they have killed something. Met a guy yesterday who had shot and lost a doe so I'm wondering if they found it. Same area he was in.

Alright boys I'm pretty tore up. Been bow hunting since 1996 (I'm 43 years old) and I just shot my first buck. I made a bad shot, little back definitely liver. I've had my eyes on him the entire time. He just laid down and looks like he's done. I'm going to sit here a while and make sure. Best part is my dad and nephew are here hunting with me so I get to share it with them.

Atta boy Sulli!!! They'll normally bed down within a 100 yards on a straight liver hit. Give him at least an hour. Post up some pics as soon as you can.

The only time I hate blow jobs is when your in a tree deer hunting. I love how a strong north west wind took my scent north west.

Back in the same spot I was in this morning and passed up the 2 small bucks. Hoping a doe or decent buck comes out this evening.

Just shot a doe .... she hit the ground after a loud thwack noise...she got up ran into the woods by greenfield she was gurgling and about every 5 minutes I hear her trying to get up. I see my arrow laying where I shot her at is that good or bad . I am still sitting in tree. I am shaking like a dog shitting peach seeds, possibly could be my first deer with bow

I have enjoyed reading all the post last few day. I finally got to go this afternoon Sitting I hardwood bottom and it is raining acorns and I have 5 tree rats 3 turkey's and a woodpecker If I hear a deer he would have grunt load with all this noise. But still great to be out.

Congrats Hopper I'd wait an hour and ease down and check the arrow out. Was she broadside or quartered? Is the arrow stuck in the ground or just laying there? Is the arrow broken? Sounds like you hit her shoulder. If so, that gurgling sound is her drowning in her own blood.

I got down and checked arrow it is bloody and lots of blood where she went in I would give her 45 minutes or so before you go in after her.

Congrats to all. Hopper sounds like a solid hit. Give her sometime and ease on in.

after replaying what went wrong I am sure I shot high cause she was at maybe 20yds and I shot the 30yd pin. I also aimed for the shoulder which aint right either. And they said my broadheads were to small. There was like a lot of bone marrow on the broadhead. Yall don't beat me up too bad cause I am doing that on my own, and remember it was my first bow shot at a deer

Well I gave her time and while waiting I heard her get up 4 times and gave it 30 minutes past the 4th then went looking had blood for about 100 yds then it got slim till there were just a spot every now and then ,there would be a puddle about the size of skoal can tracked for 500 yds or more, even had help looking but to no avail. I am very disappointed Well, crap. Sorry to hear that.

It happens hopper. Hate that you didn't get her. Why do you think it took me so long to kill a buck. I've had several opportunities, shot the wrong pin and was high, low, etc. missed one because my upper limb hit a tree limb and missed. The list goes on and on. I promise you have plenty of hunting brothers that have had shots go wrong. Keep your head up and hunt on!!!

No word out of Hopper yet? Hope he found her. Chancetribe, congrats on your first. And congrats to everyone else that got one today. My battery was about dead on my phone, so I was unable to post anything else after I shot her. I was in some thinned pines in a new spot Emmett and I fixed up. I was 60 yards off of a food plot. That's as close as we could hang a loc-on, so this was mainly going to be a gun stand. Started seeing a lot of sign around the loc-on where they had been eating honeysuckle. Plus I had what I thought was going to be a good wind. I figured the deer would be coming from the north or northeast in the evenings. The first deer I saw followed the script and came out into the plot from the northeast. She fed for 15 minutes and passed by me out of range. Shortly before 6 I caught movement about 60 yards to my southwest. It was a whole doe train coming. Crap, I'm going to get winded. Sure enough at 25 yards the caboose on the doe train blows and runs then stops. I ranged her at 32, set my dial on my HHA to 30 yards and aimed at the heart. The arrow hit home a deer went every where. I heard her crash and give me the death cough. This is what an arrow is supposed to look like: I remembered to include myself in the pic this time for the contest. I look like a stoned crackhead because I'm trying to explain to Emmett, who is 70 years old, how to take a pic with a smart phone. Im really impressed with what the NAP Killzone did to her:

Just saw your reply Hopper. Sorry you lost her. It happens bowhunting, even when you do all of the right things. I learned to bowhunt all on my own as well. If there's a mistake to be made bowhunting, I've probably done it. Just remember them and learn from them. Bowhunting is a game of patience. You have to learn to slow down and think things through before you do them. Do it enough, it will be second nature. Don't get discouraged, I lost the first one I ever shot at as well. I went out the next morning and killed my first. That was almost 20 years ago. I've lost count of how many I've taken, but it has to be close to 100 by now.

Well fellas I couldn't find the doe I shot. This is the first time that's happened to me with gun or bow, pretty gutted right now, shot was a little high and not a pass through but still thought we'd find her. Wanna thank Hoss606 for inviting me to hunt public land for the first time, and try to find the doe. Not one drop of blood anywhere. Congrats to everyone would gotcha one today!

Nothing wrong with that Muzzy. They will all do the job if put where they need to be. Being a fixed head, have you practiced with them?

Hopper it don't matter on the broad head its all shot placement. Don't get me wrong some do better than others but any will do the job if the shot placement is right. Keep your head up.

Muzzy have killed a ton of deer. If someone is telling you that at the club that they do not know what they are talking about.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.
