Whats the average rate to get your DL shortened? I went to a shop and it seemed way to high

And when shooting mechanical broadheads do yall leave the little rubber band on the head to hold the blades in until impact? on impact it slides the band down the shaft so dont see why it would hurt anything, Mine are loose and dont have a screwdriver small enough to tighten them, So thinkin about just leaving the band on when i shoot.

Thanks

The cost for adjusting the draw length on a bow will vary from shop to shop, depending on how much time they spend with you. If you bought the bow from the shop, most will not charge anything. On average I would say $5 to $10.

As for the rubberbands on your broadheads, they are designed to be shot with them holding the blades in place, keeping them from deploying in flight.

I went to a shop, got a mathews ultra 2, didnt purchase it there, its a older bow. But they said 75 frickin $. I just walked out thinkin they had lost there flippin mind thinkin i was gonna pay that!

Price gouging at its finest, Im gonna try a different shop even though i would have to drive a heck of alot further, And thanks for the tip. Fairly new to bow hunting and dont know a heck of alot about it, just know i love doing it.

Bow has a 29.5" draw, I can shoot it fairly well, but a 1/2 inch shorter would be great

And thats what i figured on the broadheads, ive always shot fixed heads, but had some mechanicals given to me so wanted to try them out

I thought Mathews required different cams for draw length adjustments. If you had to purchase a new cam, that would be a fair price.

The shop is quoting you a price for changing the cam. Most Mathews bow require you to swap the cam out to change the draw length. Your bow should have the Maxcam on it and it is adjustable without changing it out. They may have not realized it. The cam on your bow is a 30" cam and will adjust down to 29". Take it back to them and point that out. Give me the numbers stamped on your cam.

No he said this cam could be adjusted down up to 1", no changing the cam, he said 75$. I would have paid up to 30-40 probably, But 75 seemed like a rip off, which is why i asked.

Numbers on the cam is... Z-CCR-HL

Its on the #1 post on each side

And it may be a 30" draw, to be honest im not real sure how long it is, the person i got it from said 29.5 so thats what i was going off of

I took a PSE up there first, With a 30 something inch draw, And it coyld not be adjusted down without getting a new cam, so traded the PSE out for a mathews ultra 2. And he said it could be adjusted down, I understand time is money, But between both trips i May have tooken up 5 minutes of his time.

And to shorten the DL looks like a piece of cake, Would take less than 5 minutes with a bow press

The Z-CCR-HL cam on an Ultra2 is a 28" cam. Set on the #1 posts it will be 28", #2 posts 27.5" and on the #3 posts 27". It will take about 1 minute to make the adjustment and another 15 minutes if the peep has to be moved and tied again. So anything over $15 is highway robbery. What shop is this? Sounds like this guy is a total asshat. If I knew you wouldn't kill yourself or loose any fingers, I could explain how to do it with only an Allen wrench. wink

I did some looking around with those numbers, and im thinkin its only a 28" draw on this model bow, could be wrong tho.

Im grouping good, so will probably just roll with it like it is, I would like to have my arm at a little more of an angle tho, Its slapped me twice out of 20 or so shots, But more than likely my form probably varied a little, this is not the most forgiving bow

Typed that at the same time you did, thanks for the help shaw, Gonna leave the shop unmentioned

The PSE was slapping me on every shot, But took the mathews by there on the way home without shooting it first just to see if it could be adjusted just in case i needed it, But shooting well overall just need to work on my form consistency. release is pretty long, may try a different one

Can that method be done with all bows? In case something were to happen at the club and say you didn't have your press? Or is Mathews bows all it will work on?

It should work on any bow. Just make sure the Allen wrench, screwdriver or whatever you use is stout enough. Also make sure whatever you use goes all the way through so the tension put on the limb forks (or both limbs on a split limb) is equal.

Definitely get that fixed. If the string hits your shirt or jacket, you'll miss the deer.
If you have a D loop you can take it off and loose 1/2" draw. You can also modify or change your release to loose an inch or more.
