A friend of mine got caught hunting over corn about 10 years ago and it cost him $400 and lost his hunting license for a year. I told the dumbass not to do it but he went ahead. Opening day of bowseason and he was in his tree before daylight but the GW was already on his way too. After my friend missed 3 deer he heard a voice and it was the GW, with sidearm trained on the hunter, telling him to lower his bow. I still laugh at him and he still don't think it's funny.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I know a guy that used a feeder that was "empty" 10 days before the season in Washington county that got ticketed. Same thing, opening day and the warden showed him a couple kernels stuck in the feeder. He also don't think it was funny.

When IP was permit land in Baldwin county I had a tree nicknamed the meat tree. I went in before dark and jumped in the climber and as it was getting daylight I started seeing specks... I thought my eyes were jacked up and then realized it was friggin corn everywhere. Someone wanted me out of the area so, they got what they wanted. I hauled butt down that tree and outta there. Found the warden later that day and showed it to him. He ended up getting the guy later that week.

Oh, and don't forget. You will not be able to keep the deer you kill, at least not lawfully, if you get busted.

I know we joke about it on here but I don't care if it's $1.00 or $1,000.00 I ain't doing it until it's legal without any definition from a wardens point of view. Why risk your hunting ethics over it if you have any.

In 1996 I found where someone was baiting on my property. I called the GW and he and I went out there and I showed him the area. GW told me he would get the guy on Thanksgiving morning. Sure enough, he caught him on Thanksgiving. The guy was walking up the side of the mountain, carrying a 50 bag of corn. The GW advised me that this guy was rather large and very pi$$ed. I asked why the guy was so mad and the GW said, "Well, I took his stand, his gun, and his license for a year, and fined him $500."

I know a guy that it cost $378 in fine and court cost. 30 day suspended jail sentence and 2 years of probation.

You would think that a lot more people would have first hand information about the fine ,because so many people are using corn. I had a feller tell me ,that he has a long narrow food plot ,that he has his feeder set off to the side over 100 yards away and out of sight , but it is one of those directional feeders that only throw out to one side , and he has it so that it will throw the corn out in the food plot. He says the way he reads the rule , is so long as it is over 100 yards and out of sight that it is legal.
I know of one person that got caught year before last and it costed him $500.00.
I havent hear of anybody getting caught since the so called "suplemental feeding" rule came out last year.

my understanding of the rule is that it has to be over 100yds away AND out of sight due to natural obstruction....

BUT

if a GW believes that it directly caused a deer to be within range of you, that they can get you for baiting no matter how far away it is.

Wouldn't that totally defeat the purpose of the 100 yard rule.... I mean..isn't the point of corn to get the deer "within range"....

according to the law, I think the "purpose" of allowing it at all was for "supplemental feeding". that's why in the regulation books, they are careful to note that "baiting is still illegal"

I could be wrong though...you'd have to have one of our GW members clarify.

Two bow hunters at our club paid 500.00 each for hunting over old camera sites last fall.

I wonder if a game warden can prove a deer feed station directly caused a deer to be within range? I've heard some judges are throwing a bunch of the 100 yard tickets in the garbage can.

I understand what you're saying.... It's just a stupid rule/law whatever they wanna call it... I put corn out to draw the deer in and try and keep em close.... I don't care what nutritional value it has... It brings the deer in... The only the supplemental value it has... Is that it supplements my dinner table with the rest of the veggies...

This is how it was explained to me, too.

And I think this is horsecrap. The GW still has all the discretion and can merely say, "Well, I think so" or "I believe it is" and be done. It's happened before, in the woods and in courts, and it'll continue to happen.

And some wonder why game wardens aren't liked.

I can tell you first hand that I paid $325 last year and the local county prosecutor said he was letting me off easy.
