Anyone ever go on the youth hunt with them? I signed up my son to go this year. I am excited and just wondering how it works?

Here’s a rundown of the events for the weekend…

Friday - afternoon/evening check in. Short meeting with kids and parents to go over rules and other items. Early lights out for an early rise.

Sat - Wake up around 4:00 to get ready and dressed, eat breakfast, announce guide and hunter teams, have prayer, and head to stands. Meet back at camp around 11, celebrate any kills, eat lunch, have a 30-45 minute message/devotion time, head back to stand around 1:30pm and hunt until dark. Meet back up at camp to celebrate any kills, eat dinner, have a 45-60 minute message/devotional. Lights out around 10.

Sunday - same as Saturday, but a little longer message at lunch. We’ll dismiss after everyone returns from evening hunt.

ALL guns and ammo are inspected, labeled, and checked in on Friday night. Rifles are checked out prior to each hunt and checked back in after each hunt. Rifles can only be carried by the adult guides until in the woods or in stand. No child will handle a rifle at camp and no loaded rifles are allowed in or around camp. We pound this into everyone’s head as much as we can and then some. People are posted on the roads checking for loaded guns before they reach the camp area. Safety first!!

Men are in the boy's tent at night. Women are in the camp house with the girls at night. Men are assigned to hunt with boys and women with the girls (unless the parent want to sit with them).

I'm sure I'm forgetting a thing or two, but this will be my family's 4th youth hunt at Majestic. Feel free to hit me up with any more questions.

I have helped Steve and Majestic for the last three years with this event, helping "guide" a few boys on a hunt. I am not a memeber at Majestic, but I do go to church with Steve, and love his ministry. He is a stanud up guy, slgunnel description is dead on the money. The only tip I will give you is this, learn to read a map...Extremely Well.....they have a lot of land, and you can get turned around. Great times, and great fellowship. I hope to get out there this year and lend a hand again.

So, does the guide sit with us? No problem if they do, just thinking those must be some big stands/shooting houses for a kid, a parent and a guide.

If voting made any difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.-Mark Twain

No, as far as I know if you are comfortable with sitting with your child, you can do so. There are some of the houses that will house three people. I was paired up with some kids, who either had no father figure, or just have a rough time at home. Some or most of the kids have normal lives just looking for someone to hunt with.

If the parent wants to sit with child - no, a guide doesn't have to sit with you. But, we do have a good bit of 3 man houses and several handicap accessible houses throughout the property. We do have parents that have never hunted before (both single parents or just may not hunt) that want to sit with their child and a guide. This has worked out very well in the past.

As far as the land and knowing how to read maps. I do agree, but we do have "section leaders" that go out on the property showing others where their stand location is for each hunt. Half of our property does have road and stand signs marking the way. We're still working on the other half. We do ask everyone that is not familiar with the property to remain at the road/trail leading to stands until the lead guide comes back through to get them. We have learned that people don't always listen to that though... wink We also will drop a parent and child off and come back to get them if they don't have a way to get around on the property.

Yes sir, you should receive several emails over the next few weeks concerning the Youth Hunt. Also, our physical address is on our web page under the Contact Us link at the top of page (if you don't get it for some reason).

Feel free to hit me up any time for info or questions you may have. Be glad to help you out, and look forward to meeting you! I'm not on here every day, but at least a couple times a week. I'll try and make it a habit to log in at night and keep a check on PM's and such.
