Wonder how many of these rednecks won't let their son wear his cap like his favorite player, but at the same time are growing their beard out as long as they can because they wish they were Willie Robertson?

I understand your point, but theres a big difference between Willie Robertson types and disrespectful skater punks/thugs/antisocial/authority disrespecting idiots that typify flatbillers. The two groups represent totally different world views.

I was suprised to read many of the reply posts on this thread sayIng they have no problem with thier kids wearing that hat. Maybe I'm just crusty and getting old. Dressing like non-productive members of society gets you thrown in the same boat.

No. But I see one bout every day that wore his ball caps flat and his everyday and huntin' caps bent. Guess he's confused.

My son wore his hat sideways once when he was a teenager; right up to the time I smacked it off his head.

This thread had nothing to do with someone wearing their cap sideways, or backwards, or being a skater punk thug, authority disrespecting idiots y'all are talking about. It was about a baseball player wanting to wear his cap bill flat like a lot of the pros and college players do.

Which one of these looks like a thug to y'all?

Y'all picked the black one didn't you, you racist bastards? If the biggest problem y'all have out of your kids is them wanting to wear their caps like that, you should go wake them up right now, kiss them on the mouth, and thank Oprah Winfrey and Tom Cruise for the little angels you have.

The only flat bill I saw in those pics was the St Louis guy.
This is what I think a flat bill looks like:

I'd tolerate one of those gangsta hats on my grandson just about as long as it took for me to get my hands on it. I have not raised him to look or act like that.

His mom sent him to me once with a real nice looking mohawk hairdo..it lasted from the front door to the bathroom. She couldn't believe I cut it off. I told her if she thought it looked good then cut her own damn hair like that, not a child.

Again, I know y'all have a real hard time with this, but the question was about a baseball player wanting his cap bill flat. Not Justin Bieber or a rapper.

I never said I was a fan or that I'd wear one like that. But I umpire baseball from 7U all the way through men's league. I see that stuff all the time and it's not a big deal to me. I coached kids from 6U-high school baseball and some wanted the bill flat, some curved. Some wanted their pants pulled up right below the knee so their socks showed, others wanted the pants all the way down touching their shoes. I don't allow players to wear their caps backwards(unless they are wearing a mask) or sideways when I'm umpiring or coaching.

What gives you the right as an umpire to tell a kid how to wear a cap?

If he wants to wear it backwards during game and it's not disrupting the flow-course-action of the game, that's your arbitrary decision and not a game management decision.

As a coach, you can tell your team whatever. As an umpire you're supposed to be neutral unless it involves the Rules of Baseball, no?

YEAH!!!! There are probably uniform rules that cover it though. I think the trash and frayed hats with the brim bent in a v with a fish hook hanging off of it look pretty stupid too. laugh

Because I'm a bastard.

Players will have their shirts tucked in on the field, too.

Actually, I'm not even sure it's a rule but I saw a college umpire chew a second baseman's ass out for turning his cap around while in the field. He told him he was "making a travesty of the game". The player's coach then went out there and chewed the player's ass and pulled him off the field. I've never had a coach or player question me when I told them to turn their cap around or to tuck a jersey in.
