Sounds good guys. Glad to see we have everybody on board. I'm good with whatever team name y'all want. That's the least of my worries. All I care to do is kill deer and work on taking team #1 down.

Good deal...everyone's checked in. I feel good about our chances guys.

I think YEKRUT is gonna be day dreamin' about turkeys and let a good one slip by, which will then be killed by someone on another team.

Squeaky is gonna have a chip shot at the big non-typical he's got on camera, but he'll get cocky and choke at the opportunity...which will then affect his confidence and lead to him not being able to hit a deer the rest of the year.

TC Hunter...well, what more needs to be said?

...And that will be the demise of the Pine Goat Humpers.

Scrubbuck, I like the way you think. We can beat the pine goats long as we get everybody on the board with a doe and a few of us luck up and kill something 8 point or better.

How many on the team bow hunt? And are y'all tuned in and ready? I myself bow hunt pretty hard and got my PSE Surge dialed in out to 30. Any further and I don't like shooting. To risky imo.

How bout the team name? What we gonna go with?
I'm good with Redneck Romeos if y'all are.

I bow hunt, got the Mathews eZ7 dialed in and ready to go. I plan on bow hunting the national forest in Winston county, and on my weekends off bow hunting the corp land around Boligee. I pretty much let everything go on my land but in the national forest or the corp land if its legal its over if I don't miss.

I heard that. I got a small tract of family land here in Escambia Fl I hunt and do the same. But my club in Bama I'm not so nice. If we could get everybody on the same page I'd more than happy to do so. 6 point or better is good as we are now going into the 6th year. Got several bucks to look at almost every sit but dang if a six point comes out he gets blasted. Kinda irritates me but that's the joy of being in a club. So I'm gonna do work this year. Past couple years I let some go and then some other jack leg goes and kills him. I've had my belly full and will be beating some on the trigger pull this year.

On the corps land...I'm considering giving it a try this year up in camden. Never hunted it but heard good things about it. What's your take on the corp land? (Muddyfeet). Figured I'd give it a shot being ill be up that way already during the rut hunting on my father in laws lease.

I'm fine with Redneck Romeos.

I bow hunt as well until gun season and will be shooting an Alpine Silverado. I normally get a few does with the bow every year and a buck every couple of years. I generally don't shoot a buck unless he's 3+ yrs old and generally don't get too many of those in bow range.

Scurbbuck hunts it showed me a picture of a fine one he killed , we hunted it when I was young up around Gainesville saw a bunch of deer. We just bought lots in Boligee so I plan on hunting around there and Eppes. The guy I bought it off of took a week off last year, he and a couple of his buddies whacked 6 bucks in a week down there. Its big timber bottomland with levees that are thick, and plenty of deer. I'm looking forward to it already converted the 870 over to a slug gun.

Aight, well it sounds like we should get off to a good start. And I guess we'll go with Redneck Romeos. I'll go ahead and post it.

Sounds like you might have good piece of land Muddyfeet. Good luck man. And yea I'm gonna go up in a week or so and probably do some scouting. Might hunt there opening weekend instead of my club depending on what sign I find. And yea the gators are thick up that way. When it rains a lot and floods we will see them occasionally out in the little creeks on side of the road and what not.

I have friends who are doing the step up system with their kids if they shoot a doe then their next deer needs to be a spike and so on I'm fine with that if that's what they want to do. I want my son to melt the dang barrel down shooting at them, you know why they always make more deer, and as he gets older he'll start showing trigger restraint because he'll get tired of dragging em. Man it's going to be so much fun watching him do it.

Your method is how I was raised also...but that's what everyone did when I was coming up. A season was measured by how many you killed, even if it was 10 spikes. Kids will naturally follow what their mentors do. They may start out shooting every one that is legal, but they'll quickly want to be like everyone else and show restraint on their own. I think this is the best method also since it allows them to make the choice and keeps it fun.

Keeping it fun is what its about, cause when you quit having fun its time to start a new hobby.I'm like you I know he'll grow into trigger restraint. A guy I work with tried to tell me that wasn't the way to go. That I needed to let him shoot does and step his bucks up. There isn't a thing wrong with how he wants to do it, but that's not how I'm going to do it. I replied that I had a pile of racks in my building and I could tell him every place I killed them how old I was when I killed them and what I used to kill them. Best part I can tell you every buck that my dad was there when I killed it. That's what its about building memories. Does I've piled them up and unless I whacked them in the last year or 2 pretty much forget about them unless there is a real good story attached to one of them.

Muddyfeet,

Sounds like we're a lot alike in that regard. I've kept every "rack" I've ever killed, including small spikes and can remember every detail about every one when looking at them.

Many of the most memorable we're certainly not the biggest.

That's right big rack doesn't always equal great story. By the way that pic you sent has a story and it has me but especially my better half fired up about the corp land. I took off this week to finish everything up around here. Gotta work this weekend, but weekend we'll be down there looking around in the morning and doing some fishing that evening.

Yea I remember my younger days hunting I'd kill everyrhing I could get a shot on and could care less about rack size. And as I got older my whole perspective changed as far as killing deer like y'all are talking about. When my girl gets old enough to start hunting I'm gonna encourage her in everyway to kill as many as she wants and what she wants. I think it's better that way myself so they can get the itch out and be more selective the older she gets.

Muddyfeet what Core land you going to look at? I'm headed up to Camden this weekend to look millers ferry myself. Never stepped foot on any core land and have no idea what kind of pressure it has during bow opener but, I'm hoping slim to none.
