Just a little up-date on my season so far and future plans. I had plans to hunt Kentucky opening week which I proceeded to go through with. I get to camp on 9/4 a few days prior to opening day. My plans where to hang a few stands and do some glassing in the afternoons. I also had a few cameras out that I wanted to check. I get my stands hung early Friday morning so around mid-day I slip around on the cart to pull cards. Once back at camp I start going through pictures, as I am progressing through the pics I have some dudes show up on camera. I keep progressing through the pics and they show up about a week later on a 4 wheeler with something rolled up in a tarp. I told a local buddy about the pics I had and next thing I know the KY State Police is paying me a visit. I am informed there will be a helicopter on the property the very next day doing a search. Around 1:00 that day, I get a phone call asking that I come unlock the gate to the property. The helicopter pilot had found some areas of interest and they wanted some agents to check those areas out. When it was all said and done, the agents had a truck load of Mary Jane. Thankfully I was able to show I knew nothing about this or had anything to do with it. It was an unpleasant feeling and experience to say the least. After all this went down it really screwed up the hunting and my plans.
I did manage two afternoon hunts one of which I saw 7 rack bucks. I had a mid to high 130’s 8 pt, in full velvet within bow range but decided to pass. I have always wanted a full velvet buck but this deer was not mature and has super potential. It turned off hot and my next hunt was miserable. I was soaking wet with sweat by the time I got settled in my stand. I saw 5 deer on that hunt with one small 8 pt. The next morning I packed up and went home. I am headed to IL to hunt opening week of bow season on my farms there. I have some GOOD deer on camera this year. I hope one mess up and strolls by during my trip. I have two I would love to shoot. One is a main frame typical 12 pt and the other is a 15 or 16 pt non-typical. This deer is an absolute stud horn and body wise. My lease partners also picked up a new 248 ac farm that looks very promising. We acquired this piece late so we haven’t had a chance to check the cameras on it. We do have a few stands in place so I’ll give it a hunt or two unless nothing of interest in on camera. There is word that is has 3 studs living on it but that needs to be confirmed.
Good luck this season guys and be safe!!

Ya know, I was reading today where one team was running off at the mouth about a few of my fellow teammates. I figured like usual we would let the score board do the talking. Congrats Squeaky! They don't want none!

Way to go getting us on board fast squeaky! You da man! Yall held up my slack last year and I appreciate it. However after a visit this weekend we are ate up with deer (and turkeys) on the new place. Im ready and should get a doe in the running fast. Got several good bucks on daylight film too. I should be able to hold my own!
