My 93yo paw-paw earned his "Marksman" pin for machine gun, pistol, and rifle while training for WW2 (along with a host of other metals.) He went to speak to a bunch of kids getting ready to ship to the dessert a few years back and they gave him a new Army uniform and let him mess around on the range. He wore it out with iron sites on an m-16 style platform. I think he hit something like 48/50 bullseyes.
