that I had talked to Extreme Heights about. He's not gungho and probably is a little less moola than he usually deals with. It needs engineering somewhat, cosmetic finishing, and marketing. Can be a real gas saver if used correctly.
Anyone know of a small operation that can take this and run with it?
Patented? No. Too much money involved.
PM if you know someone that might be interested.
Thanks--Ernie

Is it an add on to a vehicle? Just curious as to how it would need marketing.

You can write a provisional and submit it for $125. BUT.... you have 1 year from then to file a patent or PCT.

Thanks--BB. Had one rolling and the mfg. company that was going to make it was going to take care of it, with both on the patent. Yes, they are honorable people. Matter of fact, from down your way.

Money makes honorable folks dishonorable in a hurry.

If you need help with the provisional, shoot me a pm and will help you.

You need a patent lawyer to help you with the patent.
$5-10k for simple patents.
Can you do CAD work.

PCT ($5k) is an international treaty that protects your patent/provisional patent for 18months around the world. At the end of the 18 months you have to file the int patents. Those get EXPENSIVE in a hurry. Maintenance fees will kill you as well.

BB, had a provisional worked up at one point using Legal Zoom. Not sure if I still have it. Yeah, I know about the expenses for the patent. It's one reason I'm looking for an influx of money (lol) when it gets to crunch time. However, I am aware of a couple of people that have come up with items that West and Overton knocked off but with a slight change in the product. Not much they could do to fight it. Peanuts vs. big bucks and in-house attorneys.
BB, I really do appreciate the offer, and probably will be getting back in touch with you, if I decide to go it alone.
Thanks again

Nothing but chum in the water with my presentation. And when they saw the "mock up" , the comedy channel would try to gain rights to it. smile

Gotcha, I promise you "proof of concept" mock ups are usually pretty funny to look at.

Nick, I'm not sure if you are old enough to remember "rate a record", but you may get a chance to give a 1 to 10 rating on the comedic effect of the gizmo. You know, good beat, hard to dance to. It does look a little wacky. Thanks for the support, however.

If you have something of value, why run your mouth here? Seriously?

I am an attorney and would strongly suggest you shut up on here and pay no attention to the TV shamwow type idea gurus.

Odds are you have nothing of value to anyone. But that is how Franklin, Edison, Curie, Bell et al started. Should you have something of value, why spill your seed on some impersonal forum?

If you cannot afford an attorney, perhaps you can find one via family, church, friends who will work with you. People at work if your idea is work related are the last people you should talk to.

Fabricators on a forum whom you may know, odds are you dont, are also the last people to share intellectual capital with. Whether you think you are educated or not, you idea is considered in 'intellectual capital' . Until you take steps to own your IC, you are setting yourself up for disaster with people in a public forum... You will lose future litigation, should it produce millions because you trotted it out like a dimestore piece a bad ass in public forum, yet professed its Christ like qualities...

At this time it is IP, intellectual property, that could lead to IC once used/owned by a company.

The laws recently changed. In the past if you had an idea and wrote it in a notebook, then you quasi owned that idea because you were the first to have that idea. You could fight others in court with your notebook.

Now it is first to file. Meaning who ever gets their idea on paper to the patent office owns the idea. This process gives better clarity to ownership, but forces people to take half baked ideas to the patent office.

If you are really smart then your first patent contains ~75% of what is needed, and then a few years down the road you patent the remaining 25%. This is very, very tricky because someone else can block you if they figure out your 25%. You have 20yrs on a patent from first filing (what ever that is, patent, provisional, PCT, etc).

If you are talking to another company or individual then have them sign a non-disclosure agreement. This will protect you from other stealing your idea. You have disclosed nothing on here that will jeopardize your idea.

Prototyping with 3D printers is much more cost effective than it once was. Having a prototype in hand is very important when trying to explain a product to a person. Only ~5-10% of the population can visualize in 3D from a 2D drawing. (This as been my experience)
