Liberal voting mindset. If you have a cause and he supports it, he's your guy.

He's pro abortion - I'll vote for him.
He supports gays - I'll vote for him.
He supports welfare - I'll vote for him.
He gives me money - I'll vote for him.
He supports animal rights - I'll vote for him.
He supports global warming - I'll vote for him.
He's anti gun - I'll vote for him.
He's pro union - I'll vote for him.
He's pro illegal immigration - I'll vote for him.
He's pro higher taxes - I'll vote for him.

on and on and on. Just need one cause in common.

Conservative mindset. Doesn't matter how much we agree on, we disagree on one subject.

He's not anti abortion - I can't vote for him.
He supports gays - I can't vote for him.
He supports welfare - I can't vote for him.
He gives slackers money - I can't vote for him.
He supports animal rights - I can't vote for him.
He supports global warming - I can't vote for him.
He's anti gun - I can't vote for him.
He's pro union - I can't vote for him.
He's pro illegal immigration - I can't vote for him.
He's pro higher taxes - I can't vote for him.

on and on and on. Just need one disagreement.

That's the cold hard truth, even if nobody wants to admit it. I'm guilty of it myself. Then I looked in the mirror.

It's gonna be hard for conservatives to win if we have to agree on every subject with no room for dissent. All the enemy needs is a common cause. The liberal candidates know all they have to do is support the liberal causes they will automatically get each segments vote, it's easy to win.

The conservative candidate has to please everyone while not giving anyone a reason to stay home. That's a damned hard row to hoe.

Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

The problem is that person would have zero chance of getting elected president. Carson falls into the same category as Ted Cruz and Rand Paul. They are too conservative to ever be elected in a general presidential election. Presidential politics over the past 30 years have been about pandering to your base to make through the primary and then presenting yourself as a moderate to appeal to middle of the road voters in the general election. This goes for liberals and conservatives alike. Both Bush's, Clinton and Obama all made appeals to independent voters and tried to moderate their views to be more palatable to that group that tends to sway presidential elections. Romney lost because he moved too far to the right during the primary and could never make up ground with independent voters.

DEMOCRATS always say that. They said it most about REAGAN!

Please! Yeah....offend the 40% of the population who are conservative to appeal to a small segment of independants. Hasnt been working!
