Get you a B&M sharpshooter, hooked to a Lews, or a phlueger president.. IMO the most important part of a reel is 5:2:1 ratio for crappie.. But with that sharp shooter you can do anything with it for crappie, shoot docks, cast, troll.. Get you some Vicious line and you will be set.. Just what I like anyway

I've got a 5 ft.sharpshooter but it is way to limber for my liking.Hard for me to get a good hookset. To each their own I just don't like it. Hookset on crappie?? All Mine has a stiff back bone and limber tip, but will hold a 18 inch spot no problem. I have the 5.5

When I first got it I carried it to Neely Henry dockshooting a couple of times along with a back-up rod that I had shot docks with before. This 1 is so limber that I couldn't really fire the jig as far as I wanted and if I did get bit it was hard to get a good hookset to get'em from under the dock or the boathouse.I don't like it & ain't fishing with it no more. What would you take for it?

You can't beat this setup for the price, I have a few presidents on All-stars. That rod is $49.99 at academy and the reel is $49.99-$59.99 so you're looking at $110-120 for that setup after tax. If you don't want to spend that much you can't beat the pflueger trion ultralight combos at bass pro by the reel bar. They run $59.99, I use one of these for trout fishing below smith and love it as well. Another rod I have that I love is the bass pro micro light that runs $49.99 http://m.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Micro-Lite-Graphite-Spinning-Rod/product/10204875/?utm_referrer=direct%2Fnot%20provided

That price range is fine. I was hoping to spend $200 or less for this rig.

I got a Sam heaton signature series 7 foot spinning rod the other day. Caught a few on it today I like it alot. Can cast a 1/16 ounce jig way farther than my short rods
We will burn that bridge when we get there
