So much for a bloodbath today, at least on my side.

not too many shots fired at jacobs either. I saw one deer on the back of a four wheeler but not enough for a blood bath.

Only chasing I saw today was squirrels. They appear to be in rut. Growing frustrated with skyline. I'm on good sign and just not seeing anything. I know a lot of it has to be done at night. I'd just like to catch a break. I know some good ones are up there.

Only 7 shots on smolligans side. I saw a good racked buck at 11 this morning, but he was hauling boogie.

Frank and I came yesterday afternoon and then all day today and saw a grand total of one small buck in a field on road 146 as we were dejectedly leaving. No movement whatsoever. Is the rut on or did someone accidentally hit the switch and turn it off? Puzzled by this season.

we've had a very similar experience and so have our neighbors. My guess is the abundance of acorns this year. I watched 2 does and 2 fawns this morning for over an hour. They stayed in the exact same place and ate acorns the entire timeprobably didn't take more than 10 steps before filling up and moving on. I'm still scratching my head at the lack of mature buck sightings b/c even with all the food, the mature bucks should have been on their feet at some point chasing. In two weeks of hunting hard we've only had 3 or 4 mature buck sightings. frustrating to say the least.

You guys got me beat. I saw squirrels chasing yesterday. Regressed to chipmunks this afternoon.

We struck out on the weekend. We had two people hunting yesterday and four today and we saw a total of three deer.

It's good to be home ... and looking forward to going back next hunt. I didn't score but I did have a nice 8 point cruise by. I had a bunch of does go by me and could easily have taken a my share but held off hoping for that big buck. Man the does up there are the size of donkeys. It's gonna be lots of fun dragging my 170" buck and a 130 lb doe in tandem by myself down that mountain next time ...

I camped at Poplar Springs, Thurs. night til today. I seen a grand total of a half a deer Friday at 2:45 PM. One of the guys that hunts with me killed a little 7 that was chasing does. By far the worst hunt I've had this year.
