When do the deer move during the day when it's a full moon? I hear folks say that the deer will move midday (10-2) when the moon is full. What is your experience with that?
And have you seen a tie between the January full moon and the rutting activity?

In my experience it hasn't mattered that much and I've read a few studies that had data hinting that it didn't affect deer movement times during daylight. Just my 2

I've had good luck hunting mid day when the moon is full.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

This Wed and Thurs will be excellent days to get into your stand around 8:00 and sit until 12:00 to 1:00......get down, take a break and go back out around 2:30 to 3:00. Full moon combined with very cold temps will have deer moving late in the morning.

I too have read the studies. I to have had good luck seeing deer during the middle of the day on a full moon. I think one reason people see more deer during the middle of the day during full moons, is because they hunt more during the middle of the day, during a full moon. I, too, seem to think there is a difference in deer movement, but have no data to back it up.

Thursday morning you need to be overlooking a clearcut when the sun gets on the ground....bout 9am er so... ^^^^^^ The effects of a full moon are a little iffy for me from the basis of consistent patterning..... but these hard freezes can be counted on to do the same thing nearly every time. I'm not sure if the deer just don't feed during the latter half of the night or if they hole up to stay warm....maybe both. Whatever the cause, deer start feeding like clockwork once the sun comes up and burns the frost off. Many folks will give up by 10:00 or so but I've found some of the best movement can come between 11:00-12:00. It also makes the hunt more enjoyable when you can wake up a couple hours later and not freeze your arse off....but still see plenty of deer.

For the folks that believe it changes the feeding patterns, I ask this. What is the diffrence in feeding times. On your trail cam pics. When the moon is full as compared to when it isnt.
I do think it makes i diffrence in fishing in ponds. Due to the fact more insects fly into the moons reflection on the water.

I don't know what deer they've been studying, but you can never convince me that the moon doesn't have an effect on deer feeding/movement timing. I've been using moon tables for deer hunting and fishing for 30 years or more and find a strong correlation in feeding/movement of deer and fish to when the moon is overhead or underfoot. +1

concerning the full moon, I think it depends on the setting of that full moon. Is it overhead at noon (or any time in day light) - better be there; or is it rising at or soon after dusk? If it is a full moon rising near dark or soon after dark I have found deer movement in the afternoon to be slower and very late.
Yesterday the front had passed thru and the full moon was rising basically at dark. I heard no shooting. I saw first deer, a spike, at 4:55 and about 5:05 a doe group. At dark when I was getting ready to vacate a group of five rack bucks showed up and I had to wait in my stand until 6:00 before they left the area.
