Makes my blood boil. http://www.northescambia.com/2014/12/nat...ims-its-illegalFor the first time in nearly 40 years, there’s no longer a Nativity scene on display this Christmas at the Jay City Hall after an attorney for a Wisconsin group that represents agnostics and atheists sent a letter to the town claiming that a nativity display on public property is illegal.
It takes a long time to grow an old friend.

Business's should step up and set one up on private property all around there. Church group took it over. From the link: "The Nativity was then acquired by the Santa Rosa County Ministerial Association, which has now placed it on display at the corner of Commerce Street and Highway 4 — at the Jay’s main stoplight.”

The city leaders are cowards. And don't know the law. That is how the ACLU and that Wisconsin group are able to intimidate and push people, towns and schools around. They need to be dealt with the same way that Muslim thug in Panola County, Mississippi needs to be dealt with.

I grew up close to Jay in Flomaton, my Dad before he passed had a live nativity scene he put on every year on Hwy 31. With Jay's past, its hard to believe they would succumb to outside influence that way. Times have definitely changed.

I've always wondered if those "lawsuits" have any teeth? Meaning, if an atheist group sues a municipality over a religious display, what happens if the municipality just ignores it and goes on with the display? Seriously, how can they win those suits?? There is NO indisputable, factual law prohibiting it. The "separation of church and state" is NOT a law, at least not one meant to declare abolishment on all religiosity. An attorney is only arguing opinion in the matter. Granted, I suppose a govt building displaying a singular religion's beliefs probably isn't prudent (I would not want a Muslim display in my local courthouse), but my point is does it have incriminating legality??

That same group tried that here in Walton county and got run out of town. The nativity scene is in the front lawn of the courthouse now. Sounds like YALL need some county commishoners with a backbone.
