About 15 years ago I hunted the land directly behind the high school there in seale. There's what used to be an old golf course out there. Our deer were rock n' rolling before gun season ever came in. From about Christmas on, it was dead and you didn't see much of chit.

I'm north of there in Salem on the river. Heard that the deer were rutting early down that way already. Chasing going on right now.
Ours usually follows and we are seeing increased activity also.
Should be good there the next couple weeks for sure.

I'm about ten miles south of there and they were just starting to chase opening day.

I hunted an 1800 acre lease in the early 2000's just east of US 431. Rut was pretty much over with by the time gun season came in.

Our property is just west of the old 431 around pittsview and we usually see the small ones pushing does around early Dec and the big ones are mid to late dec. Going up next weekend,so hopefully I can find out for myself whats going on up there

A very unique area in Alabama, for sure. It sounds like I hunt right next to slayingbucks. They may be full on chasing closer to the river, but around Pittsview, 12 miles south of Seale, it's just starting to pick up. One member did have a buck chase a doe by his stand two weeks ago, but our club seems to have a hunter witness something like that every year. I think they are isolated incidents. The scraping, increased movement, and full on chasing seems to happen around the 2nd or 3rd week of December. Most of our hunters don't even bother coming in January because it's dead.

I hunted that area several years ago. i would always see a little action around the first of November, but the rut didn't kick in until middle of December.

Very unique area for sure. Its crazy how the rut dates change so drastically across such short distances. I'm just down the road from you guys to the south. We see chasing get started the week after Christmas and really peak around Jan 8-10 or so.
