Anybody know how to test one of these to see if it's faulty?

I am pretty sure this is the culprit. Touch panel comes on, goes off, stops in mid cycle, etc. Now it has gone dead. Google search says the control panel is a major problem for going bad on this Maytag model. Problem is, this panel is $200 and non returnable if I plug it in and thats not it. I would like to be able to test this panel first if I knew how or if its possible.

I had a similar experience several years ago. I could tell mine was bad by some blown resistors and several questionable areas on the board. Do some internet searching of the part number of the board and you should be able to find a new or refurbished board for much less than that $200 one. I found one for mine for about $40, and took the gamble, and won.

But to answer your original question, i have no idea to test if that one is good or not, short of plugging it into someone else's dishwasher of same model and seeing if it works.

That capacitor in the lower right looks fried. Hard to tell by looking at the pic.

Sure does, if that is a capacitor.

What are you calling the capacitor? I don't see it.

Backside looks ok. I just checked the thermal fuse and it has continuity so it seems to be fine. Thats the part in the lower right with the two black wires clipping on it.

Bottom of pic right of center are 2 white connectors, there are 3 round capacitors to the right of those connectors in a triangle pattern. The bottom most one looks dark on the top, the other 2 are shiny on their tops.

Ah ok. It is dark , but I don't see any signs of what I would call burns. The capacitors come on the board don't they? Meaning part of it and not individually replaceable? Like plug in?

Back of the board looks fine.

Ok, I don't think the capacitor is bad. Here is a new control board and that capacitor is dark on a new one.

Like I said. For the last week it would stop in the middle of a cycle, lights blink. Then it started shutting off, like dead as a hammer. Then after a couple of hours the lights came on. Pushed start. It ran a bit and now dead as a hammer again. Since all the power goes through the control board, I am not sure what else it could be. It's not a plug in washer, its hard wired so it can't be that it came unplugged (as my wife asked)

You can buy replacement parts for about anything on that board if you can find the bad part and a part number. Radio Shack would probably have them, but they are soldered in not plugged in.

It's probably an inductor and not a cap then.

Ned you try and call Walt Czeskleba. He owns that old tv and pool shop in Montevallo. He might can test it for you. 665-2604

I'd unplug and plug that connector on the side a few times. Might clean it up a little if it developed a little resistance.

use your phone to scan that UPC bar code in the middle of it, then you should be able to search up the manual or at least the cheapest version of the part.

I just replaced my board on my dishwasher because I googled it and it said it was the board. The cheapest I could find was $150 and no return but I kept looking and found one that had a 14 day return policy and bought it and it fixed my dishwasher. Keep looking for one maybe you can find one that is returnable.
