Thanks again you guys. Give those pups a T-bone for dinner!

I hope my mutt is half the dog you have there. If it's half as good as theirs, it will still be a world class dog. It took the dogs less than 10 minutes to find a deer that didn't bleed for the first 100 yards, that was shot 14 hours earlier, and tracked it with frost on the ground. A trail that was intercepted half way to the deers place of death, according to the fresh pile of scat we found, by a pack of coyotes. Oh and there were 3 other deer within 5-10 feet of the deer when it was shot, so they differentiated between the spooked deer that ran off and the wounded deer that ran off. I'd take one half that good all day long.

That's awesome!...... Tom, I'm just getting started tracking here in south Alabama and I have a new puppy (6 months old) I'm trying to train. Do you any advice for his first year. He's found a couple of deer so far but it still hasn't "clicked" for him. It may just be the puppy in him but he's just not focusing on the task at hand for very long.

That is too cool. I have three little min-pins and they freak out any time they smell blood on me after I have killed a deer. I am thinking they could be some hellaish trackers too.

Wire haired dachshund I believe Looking for info on this breed, anyone know anything about them? I don't know any info on the breed but the dogs were not exactly what I was expecting. They don't look like regular dashaunds with long hair, they look like a totally different type of dog to me. After being around those two I think they would make a good house dog. Their hair wasn't as coarse looking as I thought it would be with a name like wire haired... I didn't pet the dogs though, so I couldn't say for sure if the hair was coarse. I read your other post and saw where you said that was a holdup for your wife on getting one. Heck call Tom, I would imagine he'd let you come by and check em out in person.
