I use to shoot a Mathews. When I upgraded, I shot a lot of different bows. The Hoyt CE felt the best to me. That doesn't mean that one is better than the other. Shoot a lot of different bows and pick the one that you like the best.

I have been shooting a Hoyt Carbon Element for several years now. It is expensive no doubt. But, it is a GREAT bow.
I will tell you like I tell everyone else. Go to a bow shop that carries all the top brands and shoot them all. Then pick for yourself. Please don't make a decision because you buddies shoot this or that. Bows are supposed to be fun to shoot. If you love the way it shoots, you will shoot it with a lot more accuracy.
I was in Archery Unlimited last night and they are sold slam out of Mathews bows. It is the end of the 2014 model season and the 2015 bows are due out in the next week or two. If it were me, I would wait until the new ones come out and then go test drive them before I purchased.
If you want a new bow, then I would get a 2015. But, if you want a good used bow, the next couple of months will be a great time to get one. Lots of guys will trade their last years bow in for a 2015 and you can save some good money on a 2014 bow.

horrible customer service, took 3 months to get my creed fixed. it was a factory issue, the cam was touching the cable at full draw. i am glad someone stole it from me and gave me the opportunity to buy an obsession.

Where would be a good place to look for a used bow and how well do hoyts or mathews hold value to trade in for next yrs model? Purchasing a new bow is probably the worst investment known to man.

I agree with Elkhunter. Go out and shoot as many as you can. Get the one that feels best to you. The new Mathews model year bows are always released the first week of November. As for resale value, Mathews bows hold their value better than all the other companies because of their popularity. But you will still take a beating on depreciation. As for customer service, theirs ranks right up there with the rest of them, but as always you can't make 100% of the people happy 100% of the time. The local dealer plays a huge role in how happy someone is with their customer service. More times than not when I hear someone dogging Mathews' customer service, it's because the local dealer dropped the ball somehow.

horrible customer service, took 3 months to get my creed fixed. it was a factory issue, the cam was touching the cable at full draw. i am glad someone stole it from me and gave me the opportunity to buy an obsession. I had my cam swapped out for a longer draw and they replaced it for me on the spot, no questions asked, and no charge. They were even going to let me keep the original cam if I wanted but I felt guilty so I let them keep it. Great customer experience for me! I did this through Mark's Outdoor's but they were talking to Mathews through the phone. Creed for me. I prefer the smooth draw all the way through. I shoot a 70# but it feels smoother and easier to draw than a 60# in other brands with dual cams. That's what sold me. Very quit as well.

I've had the Mathews MQ32, the Drenalin, the Reezen and the Z7. All are great bows and I still shoot the Z7 and my son shoots the Heli-m, but I really want to shoot the EliteEnergy 32. I think I would switch if the opportunity came.
