Big AL 76 OP 12 point Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,742 McCalla	As always' I'm running out of time(work work work) and was wondering if I had to wait until Oct.18th to plant would this be to late? also what would you plant this late being on a budget? I was thinking the basic oats,triticale and mix in some clover.radish or such..it's only 7-8 small fields none over 1/4 acre or so..in Tuscaloosa county

My personal preference is to plant around the middle of October but I am in the minority but I rarely get hit by these long dry spells like we are in...

Blessed 10 point B Joined: May 2006 Posts: 3,585 alabama	Planted mine yesterday the soil was right had a lot of moisture in it . Did a combination of oats , radishes , turnip greens , chicory and clover trio so they have a buffet to choose from .

Actually they were planted twice that year. We planted Memorial Day weekend which seems to be the norm around here. They came up and then no rain for a month or better. We quit planting Memorial Day weekend after that. If you meant Memorial day, then no wonder your plots failed. LOL
