I am new to the area and I am going to start hunting mulberry fork WMA this year. I mostly go by boat and would be launching out of Howton's camp. If I want to go somewhere by boat to deer hunt do I still have to go by the checking station?(it would be an extra 20-30 minutes car ride)
If I do, can I get permits a day in advance for deer hunting on the weekends?

Don't forget all your boat requirements, too, in case you get stopped or checked. PFD, lights, etc.

Gun hunt, yes. Bow just the map signed and dated.

Yes it stinks. I wish all Wma's would do away with having to check in the morning of the hunt.Some already have and its much easier.

Sometimes they wil make special arrangements and give you a pass day in advance if you have connections

A friend and me used to hunt it that way on gun days.
Crowded at the ck in station, when ya got there early to get first in line and a parking spot someone would park and block your truck and trailer in ... had that happen twice. Almost lost my religion the last time it happened and we quit going on gun hunt days because of it. We launched at the closest camp to it. Howtons will be a good drive back.

Franklin ferry is a lot closer to check in station

If they hunt the day before you can get your permit that day for the following. At least that's what they do at oakamulgee.

Howtons works for me bc the boat is in the water already
