From daylight to 0830 I caught 17 keepers and several short fish. Got 4 channel cats too. Haybale gave me some pointers a while back and I just had to be persistent. Thanks buddy!

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Well what? laugh

The breakdown after cleaning 'em.....14 of the 17 were whites and 13 of those had eggs with some ready to pop. Of the 3 blacks, one was the blackest crappie I have ever seen. It was just coal black all over. One of the other 2 blacks had eggs.

I saw fish splashing quite often at the very edge of the bank in places that were impossible to fish due to overhanging limbs all the way down to a foot or less above the water. I saw 1 fish come out of the water under the limbs and it looked like a white crappie. The water is about a foot deep there. I believe what I saw was the actual spawning up under the limbs where Herons and other vermin can't get to the beds.

And the BEST part of the trip was when the Bald Eagle came in about 40 yards from me, dove down to the surface twice and got a fish on the 2nd try. It was AWESOME to behold!

I fished an hour or so in the Gold Mine slough of Martin and didn't catch a crappie. Most of ours have spawned and are bunched up somewhere. Need to find that somewhere.
Glad you had some luck. Heck, around here, crappie fishing has turned into side scan, long line, boring slow trolling with 10 rods.
I have to see that float go under and move on off. Just me.

Guntersville, Town Creek. All the rain that's coming gonna screw 'em up again though.

I dropped front and rear anchors and sat on the same spot all morning. I had 2 rods out with minnows and another rod throwing 1/32oz BG baby shad that's black glitter back and plum colored belly. A couple of times I was cranking one in on the jig and getting bites on both other rods. It was FUN!

I like throwing crappie jigs on a ultralight. That's my favorite way of fishing for them. We have been catching 150-160 hand size crappie in the lakes we joined. They were just stocked last year so I'm hoping we will start having some eating size crappie next year.
