hunterbuck Booner H Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 13,907 AL	2011 Z71 4x4 everything stock. I average 17+ in mixed city/hwy driving. Highway driving (not interstate), I can get 19.5-20 mpg. I don't drive like a bat out of hell and I only run non-ethanol fuel. "You think I care? Roll Damn Tide" Have you tried Google?

I get a consistent 22 mph which is about like getting 17-18 mph considering the cost difference with gasoline. Not to mention diesel vehicles don't depreciate as quickly (or has a longer life) and needs about half the maintenance. In other words, I recommend them for long term cost savings. Short term is a different story.

I haven't had mine long but was informed and am under the impression that on a diesel I don't need to change my oil but about every 7-8k miles. Can you expand on maintenance requirements of a diesel that I may not be thinking about.
