Any one know of this club and have any information?

Stay away.... I was never in it.. But hunted as a guest... If you need more info I can PM you my buddy's number.. He can fill you in...
Basically it is a one man show... You must share all game cam pics with the Pres or you will be let go.. along with many other rules that are absurd... Just let me know and I will give him a heads up you will be contacting him...

There are probably no less than 10 "Deep South" hunting clubs in the state of Alabama. You might want to give a little more information regarding where it's actually located at before you make a final decision.

Good point.... If it's Eric Burton's Deep South of Hwy 82 near Reform.... Avoid it.... Like I said.... I can put you in touch with a former member if you need more info...

Man, do your due diligence in dealing with hunting clubs!!!! I entered into an agreement and got involved with Donnie and Donna Mott of the Riverdale Hunting Club (Sardis) south of Selma and it wasn't until after that did I find out just how awful they both were. That mistake costs me a lot of money and heartache!

You also have to make sure your goals are the hunting club's goals. I.E. If you're a staunch mature buck hunter then "six points or better" ain't going to cut it with you. And nothing is wrong with either... it's just whatever you're looking for and match it with the club's mission statement.

Just looked at the website. Not bad rules but I hate the "2nd buck has to be bigger than your 1st buck" rule. Does that mean if you kill a 150" class buck for your first buck of the season, you have to pass on a 140" eight point? I mean, really?

Anyway, rules and personalities of clubs and a club's leadership don't alway coincide.

I know nothing about club in question here and just had a comment about one of their rules.

I don't know who posted the lies about Deep South but I am Eric Burton (president)and before somebody goes running my name down they need to check the facts. I don't know who Tru-Talker is or who his friend is. but I have only kicked three people out of Deep South in seven years I have had the lease. All our rules or voted on by the members in the club meeting each year as well as the buck rules. If it is the person tru-talker is talking about I had 9 out of 20 members come to me and say they were out if that guy stayed in. he was a problem child from the beginning. Tru-talker please PM me your number so we can get things straight or go ahead and start digging two graves.

Deep south is a good place to hunt and has produced a lot of trophy whitetail. it is not a dictatorship or a one man show. I just don't keep secrets or hide anything.

Don't know about anyone else, but when I checked out the rules, they looked very reasonable to me. Some folks might gripe about the age rule for bucks, but that's a better standard IMO than simply saying "an eight or better".

There is nothing to reply to... I'm not getting in a pissing match over he said...she said... Its his club... He's gonna stand up for it regardless... It's been years ago since this happened.. He could have grown up since then... There is a saying though... The past will repeat itself..

I know who you are talking about know "Jay C". There is also a old saying believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see. There is no pissing match and no growing up to do. Jay C. was a member of deep south and one of the worst member you can have always lied and was only out for himself. I can list 10-15 things he got kicked out for. Here is another saying if you have one rotten apple in a basket the rest will be rotten before long.

Don't put lies out there about me unless you know the truth. anybody on here can call me at anytime 205-365-3111 I DON'T LIE. I can provide 20+ reference on Deep South and the way it is run. When you have a club that has a meeting every year to discuss rules and changes, then vote on all the changes I don't know how that is one sided or my way or the highway.

GET THE STORY STRAIGHT FOR 20 PEOPLE INSTEAD OF ONE.

Thanks for the advice... The person I hunted with left on his own due to other reasons...But I do not know a JayC.. Now that makes two who have issues with this place... Its sad when you apparently have more than one ex member saying the same...
Before you throw names out there...at least make sure you have the right person...
It's nice to have rules for the club...its another thing to actually follow them...

Remember this...You always have side A.... You always have side B... And then you have the truth...

I'm gonna chime in, can't help myself, I personally met with Mr Burton last summer and looked over the club with him. Only reason I didn't join up is because I found somewhere closer to home. From everything I saw he has a passion for deer hunting and did not come across to me as his way or the highway type of person. He came across as there are the rules and abide by them. Plain and simple. He likes input from all club members and is serious about deer management as more people should be. As far as him getting all game cam pics, if that's true, can't blame him because if there's gonna be management in place nobody serious about deer hunting wants John Doe out there shooting everything he gets in his cross hairs. All I'm saying is that he wants what's best for the deer herd and rightly so, wish everyone had his mindset.

I dream of a day when the club I'm in will voluntary share all camera pics so that we can compile an official "hit list" and "don't shoot list". Had a nine-point that was a terrific two and a half years old slip by me early last season. Prior to the season, I'd gotten him on camera and knew he was in this particular area. It was only due to the fact I'd seen him in pics that I instantly knew to pass on him when I saw him - and I had about a ten-second window to make the decision. Folks who especially hunt in the woods will often mistakenly shoot a younger/smaller deer... and a if a club has members who will openly share pics with one another, better management can take place. Problem right now in our club? If some guys see your pics, they'll hunt those areas until they either kill the buck or make him nocturnal.
