Just wear it, I have seen too many people take it lightly this season. After the recent accident in Alex city, I cant help but to say something. There is no excuse for not wearing it. You never know who is within shooting distance from you that has no common sense and cant tell the difference between a whitetail and a grown man. A hunter getting killed should never happen, orange or not.

I believe in hunter orange. I wear a vest and cap at all times. I am trying to instill this in my 11 year old that we wear it at all times. It saves lives every year.

You know, I wear it every time. But damn, if someone is dumb enough to shoot at sound or a "shaking bush", I don't think orange will help. I'm not saying don't wear it, so don't take it that way. Some just shouldn't be allowed to tote a rifle, or drive, or leave their house. Period.

Wearing it gives you the best chance to be spotted. I agree though, certain people have no right to be in the woods with a high powered rifle. It makes me sick when these things happen. I could never look through my scope and pull the trigger without being able to identify my target 100 percent.

Another thing that I do is always walk in or out of the dark with a light on. Whether it's on the bill of my cap or a hand held light. My buddy asked me a few days ago walking in with the moon up saying I didn't need it. He was right I didn't but I don't know whose poaching or in the woods with an itchy trigger finger. If I get shot, y'all look for the sucker that did it cause they did it on purpose.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

My phone screen does not always work right, usually a lot of misspelled words....

I agree on wearing it!

But......the message SHOULD be:

DO NOT SHOOT AT ANYTHING YOU CANNOT 100% POSITIVELY IDENTIFY!!!!!

And, even then, be aware of your surroundings and the possible bullet path.

A message I gave my son, and all the other kids that I have taught, is that once you pull that trigger and send that bullet on it's way......there is no 'do-over' or 'my bad'. This is REAL and that bullet will probably be taking something's LIFE. Be sure of your target and aware of the results. Every shot could have an impact on the rest of your life.

There is a huge RESPONSIBILITY that goes along with a gun!

Having a light doesn't always work, either.

I couldn't agree more. I think of it like seat belts. I don't wear those because I'm a bad driver, I'm worried about all the other people on the road. Even on private land you need to wear it because if someone is dumb enough to poach then they don't have sense behind the trigger. I wear it and use lights also. No matter what you do, you aren't 100% safe but anything to increase your odds of not getting shot is good for me.

There are stupid people all among us. So keep that in mind no matter where you are and what you are doing.

I know this. It's my job to make sure stupid people don't kill you.

Had an idiot come crashing through the woods on me sunday morning. No orange, no rifle, no bright colors of any kind. Excellent point though...we should always ID our target.

I agree 100 percent. My father taught me the exact same way.

If you think for a second that the stupid people are only a small minority just look at the last two presidential elections. You'll buy a solid orange outfit cause they're out there.

I never understood this, why would you take it off in the tree? You're just as able to be shot up there than if you were on the ground.
