This is the tallest rub I have ever found. twice the height of my marlin 336 30-30. Curious of what y'all think.

I can understand why you say that. Iphone video.. I am 100 percent certain its a rub. shavings at the base of the tree, and dead trees typically don't have the shredded look unless its cedar.

If a deer made it he is going to be mature for sure.

There are at least 4 or 5 skinned trees in the background. I don't know, it doesn't look just right. I first thought skidder, but that doesn't match just right either.

That is a hickory sapling. It IS a rub. It's not dead yet, but it will be soon. The trick is that it's been rubbed on more than once. Initially it was stripped completely around the circumference of the tree, left alone for a while. During this time the bark hardened and split even further. The cold temps we've had added to this, making it continue to separate from the cadmium layer. A buck probably came back, hit it again, and the bark looks like it does now. If you grabbed some of that bark and pulled upward you could probably get a 3 foot long piece off.

I'm going with not a rub.

If it's a rub, why isn't the tree, within less than 6 inches not damaged. Can't be a rub with no damage to a anther tree that close.

Dont think its a rub myself, I dont know why those trees do that, Ive seen it before as well. When you see a big rub, trust me you wont have to ask this question, it will be obvious

It is a small tree. I am thinking the deer bent it over and rubbed it up real good.
