I shoot every coyote I see because i feel like their population outnumber bobcats!! I have killed over 20 coyotes thru my 25 years of hunting and seen 10 times that driving back and forth to work but have only seen a handfull of bobcats.Just saying!!

Not sure where you hunt but lots of areas in the state are seeing a decline in deer population. Not a massive increase like oak Mountain had/has.

I was thinking you didn't have to check a cat in unless you were going to sale the hide. I may be wrong though. Might need to look that one up. I know you have to do this if you are commercial trapping to sell hides.

Where do Bob Cats make a den? I have had 2 camera shots of bobcats. I have looked around bluffs or hole in the ground. i would love to set a camer on a den area.

I kill every legal predator that I can. I don't think as hunters we can take too many.

I witnessed a bobcat stalking does on a greenfield this year. The deer watched him and when he started creeping closer they blew and ran. They came back within an hour.

Hey 105, a tag is required within 14 days of killing a bobcat or otter in the state regardless of selling or otherwise disposing of it. If a person kills a bobcat and wishes to take it to a taxidermist, he/she may do so without first acquiring a tag. However, the hunter must leave a fur tag report signed with the taxidermist. At that point, the taxidermist would have a representative of the Dept. of Conservation render a tag (again within 14 days) before leaving the shop. All of this information is in the 2013-2014 regulation book. I believe it is under 220-2-.30
I think.....there are several subsections on that regulation, which pertain to fur-bearing animals. I'm sure everyone has a fur tag report in their wallet! LOL I think the Dept. Of Conservation has made it pretty easy to call a district office and get a tag over the phone.

Good to know. Thanks Goodoleboy

I remember reading about it last year when I started trapping my land. I might need to read it again laugh. Didn't catch one last year. Maybe this year I will get one. Got plenty of pics. of them.

No problem 105. Trapping is lost art these days. Good luck!
