Hunted all weekend and heard 3 shots, saw only a spike. A few active scrapes but nothing else. I hope it picks up the end of the month when I go back.

Did not even get any calls to track.

I saw a few deer, mostly does. I am seeing a lot of scrapes now so I think the deer on my place are about to get hot.

Tell me about it. Saw 2 doe Sat AM and 5 Sun PM. No bucks and no scrapes still! Saw some tracks in a logging road that looked to be chasing.
My old club 2 miles west of us in Salem reported increased scrape activity this weekend. Should be very soon!

What yall did see were they in the woods or on food plots? They have been wearing the plots out but must be at night.

I hunted daylight to dark Saturday in south Chambers County and only saw 3 deer. Button buck, spike and a young doe. No signs of the rut yet. I did hear 8-10 shots between daylight and 8 a.m. on Saturday.

1 was browsing in some pines. The rest were hitting the food plots right at dark.

I hunt Lee/Chambers line. I went out Friday night in the "gail force winds". There were 7 people hunting Friday evening on our lease. No one saw anything except me. I had a doe and small spike come in about an hour before dak. I took the doe for the meat and the spike kept hanging around so I deciced to have some fun with him I grunted(a lot, very agressively), snortwheezed twice, rattled(again agressively). Finally the spiked eased off and I look off to my right and 3 bucks coming in I thought well lookie here. I took the biggest home as well a nice 8 pointer. Dont know if i just had blind luck or the agressive calling combined with "doe" bate was the ticket but I had a good hunt Friday afternoon.

Silverock,
Congrats on your buck.

I am on the Lee/Chambers line just off 431, you hunt anywhere close to there? It has been pretty slow for me this year, I hope the rut gets them fired up.

This lease is on I85 between Bridges Travel Plaza an Halawaka Creek. We have had lots of scrapes showing up in last couple weeks and a few young bucks harassing the does. The buck i killed did smell rather "rutty' but definately not "full blown". I took off till next Tuesday. I hope to check in with some "live from stand' reports on my blackberry.

RCHRR,
I am from Opelika and lease 160 acres of private land. This is my first year with this lease and I haven't decided what I will do next year. There are a couple of clubs in the area. I would like to have access to more land and the only way I can afford that is to o join a club with several members. It gets a little old hunting the same 5 or 6 stands.

bwhunter, I hunt some land just off of 431 in Chambers also. I bet we are right there together. You take a left at that gas station on the corner of 147 and 431 and then a left at the power station. Is this close to you??

I am not too far from you all. I am off of County road 86 in Waverly. The land i hunt is broken into 2 tracks hardwood and then a pine thicket. I have not seen deer to much the last few weeks on the hardwoods side but my cameras are showing more in the pine thicket and 2 news bucks. I am not finding a lot of scraps and very few rubs. I did see one of the bucks on camera that I am hunting with a broken tine. Good luck to you guys.
