So I decided to sneak out of work early today and hunt a spot I know a good buck is using. I hunt on 1500 acres and usually everybody else in the club hunts only on the weekends so I figured I would have it to myself. To my dismay I arrive to find one other hunter on the property and of course he is in the only stand I wanted to hunt so naturally I go somewhere else and see only a couple of does and what happens to the guy hunting the other stand?....You guessed it, he kills a nice 8 point.

Part of being in a club. That's why I bought land and lease some for myself.

I put a ladder stand up a few years ago in a spot I just knew I would kill a big deer. I did not tell a sole where it was. I waited a week for the wind to get right, drove down early that morning got to the camp house to sign out for that area. My cousin walks up and shows me a picture of his son with a big 8pt. I said well congrats he finally got one for the wall that's awesome. He said yep he killed yesterday morning out of your ladder stand. WTH frown

Just happened to my wife last week.I put her in 12a and she seen some deer, said she enjoyed the stand. So the next day she told me she wanted to go back.Well we pull up @ camp & the only other member there had 12a pinned!.Well I got a text at 5:05 asking if we could help him load a deer after dark! Haha he killed a stud of a 8point. My wife was nauseous lol I told her welcome to the club that's hunting hehehe...

What's really fun is when other members start hunting you and rarely hunt their own stands.

It's gonna happen.

Worse. My brother's BIL, gets to hunt about once a year and he wanted to put some meat in his freezer, so I (being the nice guy I am) put him in my favorite stand, where I always saw deer. What's he do..... kills a HUGE 9 point! I was happy for him, but man I would have loved to have got that one!

Was walking to the signout board a couple of years ago when I realized I had forgotten something in my camper. Walked back to get it. In the meantime another member drives up and of course signed out for the spot I wanted to hunt. Shoots a huge 10 pt on the plot I was going to hunt.

My father-in-law begged me to swap stands with him once because I had been seeing tons of deer out of mine and all he was seeing were two little spikes. I had already killed a nice 8 pointer out of my stand and seen several other small bucks. I agreed and went to his stand for the afternoon hunt. He didn't see a thing out of my stand and I ended up killing a 10 pointer out of his.

Yep. Most times in a club the spots you want to hunt are also the spots everybody else wants to hunt. We used to have a stand that was so good that if one of us wanted to hunt somewhere else, we would still go to the good stand just so it would not be left open. Just wait until "that member" starts hunting behind you everytime you mention a deer sighting.

When I was in clubs, I liked to be last to sign out. You can use the wind and the way other people walk in and hunt to your advantage. wink Just make sure you give them plenty of room and don't "cut them off".

happens to us all. I use to show up after a hunt and mention "the one" that jumped the road on me OR the one I couldn't get a shot at. Rarely failed, the guys with perky ears would usually go hunt the areas a few times. Kept some where I wanted them, haha
