I saw on the TV about the animals rights group PETA selling drones for $350.00. They went on to say that hunters hide in tress and try to act like ducks in order to inflict harm to animals. They want people to use these drones to catch hunters inflicting harm to animals and to catch people with dogs outside in the cold. These drones have video recorders and send the video directly to the police. I got a question...If an animal is an animal what's the difference between a dog out in the cold and a chicken? Are they going to start arresting me for cold chickens or pigs or cows. These drones are affordable to at $325.00!

I may be wrong.......but I don't think private citizens can legally operate drones. But I don't know what the difference in a drone and a RC copter or plane with a video camera is.

According to the PETA website they are called hobby drones and I don't believe they are controlled.

A private citizen can operate a drone aircraft. Same thing as an RC plane.

I had a electric RC plane, it's pretty cool to mount a small recorder in them.

No there is a distinction. The FAA defines the difference in hobbyist toys and UA' s as the ability for one to be flown without being in the line of sight of the pilot. A true UA must be permitted. You can look up who has such permits that are not military. Mostly law enforcement and universities .

People can still play with RC's as always.

I'm waiting for "hunters" to start using drones to find deer. They probably already do.

Isn't there a limit like 400ft above ground?

any drone flying over my place is going to get shot at 100% for sure and if I find the guy operating it he gets an axe handle whipping.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I see a great marketing opportunity here---Black Cloud Drone Loads, Drone Terminator screw in chokes, special anti-aircraft sights for that drum-fed street sweeper you've got hidden in the closet. When the DRONES come...will you be ready?

WHEN they come? It looks like they are already here! And at $325.00 they cost less than tree stands. Are there any laws about using them for hunting?
