Not quite as simple as that. It did influence him like lots of gun designers are influenced by others. There are several differences between the two.

True enough...like article says, he used Garand, and a Remington Model 8 design also...but the idea of a mid cartridge vs a pistol or rifle caliber is German.
Hitler didnt like it...said it used to much ammo..
Most bolt guns have the Mauser action to thank...US did with the 03-A3 Springfield and Brits with Enfield...and thankfully...we can thank the 03 for the 30-06...
