I've wondered about this, too. I guess it could depend on what lies are told to them.

This is why I posted what I did the other day. The Obama administration is doing all they can to destroy morale among the enlisted. If each of us took every opportunity to tell every service member we see that we appreciate them, who do you think they will support come crunch time? They know their government doesn't appreciate them. Tell every member, black or white, male or female , that we appreciate them.
My guess is that this administration would like to get most of our military involved in overseas conflict and use the DHS to disarm and defeat the citizenry.

The military needs to stand up. They have an oath to the Constitution. There is a reason that Constitution comes before President in their Oath. The protection of the Constitution trumps all in "my" opinion.

Toothdoc, research what all happened stateside during the Vietnam protests in American cities during the 60s and 70s. Also, I don't have to remind you that the rule of law to this administration is no hurdle too tall.

I think the military will NOT as a whole go against the people. They will not shoot on their own. Most local police I spoke to say the very same. They arent about to. theyve told me it would be suicide.

They arent about to. theyve told me it would be suicide. You haven't been paying attention to the same stories I have about the jack booted, thug , police , then. I think they are much more likely to join up with DHS than our military.

Complicated question with multiple scenario answers. IF the uprising comes there will be 2 fronts, urban and rural. All Hell will break loose in the urban scenario and local PD might see it as the golden opportunity to do some long overdue "cleanup". Once they get a little taste of blood they'd be more likely to abuse the good people. The rural front is where folks would clan up, police their own and put up the most resistance. I believe the key would be to have governors of states with common borders to clan up and use their National Guard units against the criminal feds.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

All that's necessary is to provide a good reason, whether real or not. This country is more divided than ever. The us against them mentality is becoming dominant among every faction of society.

Just look at what the military of other countries have done in the past to their own people. Nuff said.

Despite the Oath of 'protect against all threats both foreign and domestic', the average Joe isn't gonna shoot Bubba cuz he's out past curfew should it ever happen.
There's no way that any combination of federal/state/local authorities could put an entire country on lockdown. There's just too much real estate. What's happened in recent conflicts shows that it's nearly impossible to completely control even a small population. It gets harder when the locals have a morale obligation to each other ie: family/friends/neighbors where everyone knows each other. Trying to control multiple large (100k+ people) cities would be a nightmare. Putting a multi-million sized populace just isn't possible.
I agree that DHS's large ammo and armored vehicle purchases are alarming, but other than having the National Guard come in to try and stop looting, military interdiction of large groups of 'hostile' civilians isn't in the guberment game plan.
It would be curious to see how the media portrays it...

I wouldn't follow that order, but a lot of the younger guys are so brainwashed coming from training they don't know that they are obligated to the people, not the government. I wholeheartedly believe that the younger soilders would blindly follow any order they are given.
I'm in the National Guard btw.
