I personally dont but I know of some big deer being killed with that round. I would make sure that you choose a good solid hunting bullet and not a ballistic tip mainly because you may not get much penetration. I would also recommed giving a shot deer plenty amount of time to expire after the shot because I wouldnt expect a good blood trail. And be accurate with your shot placement. Just my $0.02 which may be what you paid for it.

If your decoy doesnt have holes in it, your not letting him get close enough... J.H.

Do you own one? Rifle or ar15 if your looking @ a ar15 platform theirs a lot better options than the 223 these days..

my friends daughter shot a 4 point at 80 yards with her single shot rossi 223( 55 grain ballistic tip)and gave the deer around 2 hours to expire. deer ran about 100 yards with one helluva blood trail to find her first deer. She shot it a little too far back but it will kill them. I just recently bought one for my 7 year old.

Hell we only send our troops off to war to kill people with it....
Good enough for war, not good enough for a thin-skinned deer.

U Need to look at the 223 round when it comes to combat..It was not designed to just kill the enemy, do a little research on the round..

My buddies son killed a few with his last year but also knocked a big buck down only for it to jump up while he was climbing down and never found much blood. Shot placement is key with them.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

.223 is fine for taking down a deer. If you have concernes just make a headshot. That will drop em like a hammer! Please, not the headshot thing again.

That will drop em like a hammer! what would you do if that buck of a life time is quartering away from you bad with his head down ????? me i'd raise my bigger cal and punch a hole through his gut or hind quarter and take the deer to the house .

I dont think you will have any problems if you are, as mentioned, in the perfect setting for it. Less than 100yards and perfect broadsided. Most .223 rounds only retain 1000ft/lbs of energy inside 100 yards. Have seen it done with 22-250 multiple times. no reason a TSX at 60grns or above wouldnt rip up one.
