I bought a Mathews the other day and I put my savage pendulum on it. Everyone keeps telling me I need pin sight. Why? Any feedback or answers are appreciated

My deal with pendulum sights were two fold. #1 If it moves, it will make noise and #2 the limited distance of shots.

X5 got mine sighted in Sunday. Shooting the edge of a cardboard box at 60 yds. ( lucky but did it a couple of times)

I am sure I could search some old threads and find the answer, but this will be quicker.
1. Have always used a 3 pin sight. Over 40 now and eyesight is getting worse. I do NOT want to wear my readers in the woods. Can the adjustments to tape be easily read for the single pin?
2. How difficult is it to change distances in the tree?
I shot Monday and seeing my pins was more difficult than it was last year.

The even yardages are color coded on sight tapes that come with the HHA's and they are very easy to adjust in the heat of the moment.

my 02 cents is, i had a kellar pendulum, it was very noisy, plus i didn't much care for all the different heights of sight ins. depending on whom you talked to, as how high you needed to just to sight it in. and the limited range. like you can't make 60 yard shot with the one i had.i really like the one Dan posted, it has pins for what you might want to shoot, as long as you have arc rangefinder.using fixed pins Murphy proofed the pendulum.having a rangefinder takes a lot of guess work out of it.

in addition to what Shaw said, I'll leave mine on 25 or 30 and just know to just aim a hair high for 40 yards and a hair low for 15-20 yards if there isn't time to adjust....but the roller style is extremely easy to change....can't speak for the slider style

I have the 5519 which is the slider model. The yardages are highlighted in yellow, green and pink. Easy to move in the woods. I can leave mine at 30 and adjust if needed

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I looked into the HHA and if I can sweet talk the better half into it I'll try one out see how it goes. I finally went to a drop away rest and got away from the whisker biscuit after a some prodding by my brother in law I went from baseball size groups to half dollar groups from 40 yards in. The savage pendulum is good out to 40 but it really starts dropping off after that, and that Mathews can easily shoot 50 plus with the right sights.

I have the CBE TEK Hunter Pro, its a Hybrid and I love it. 5 Pins are set for 20-30-40-50-60. The 60 yard pin is now my adjustable sight and with the Tape provided I can shoot from 60-100 yards on that one pin.

not sure of the price difference but check out the Tru Glo, Archer's Choice Rangerover...it's a lot like the HHA...I really didn't know about the HHA when I bought my Tru Glo but I like it a lot...same concept, easy to sight in and once sighted in very easy to read the tape and adjust before a shot. Cost around $125...also once you sight in at 20, 30 and 40 you can match the correct pr-printed tape to your 20-40 marks and the rest (50, 60 etc. are are ready calculated...not a huge deal but would have been nice to have known when I was sighting in at 50.
