I'm about to switch out to some new AT type of tires.
My selection is kind of limited because I'm running what came on the truck when I got it----275/55 R20. I've gotten it narrowed down to a few different makes.
If I jumped up to 275/65 I could get BFG ATs. They don't make a 55 tire. What issues, if any, could I expect in jumping from 55 to 65? Will they rub?

that will probably rub without at least a leveling kit. That's going from a 32" tire to a 34.5" tire

I went and did some reading on tire sizes right after I posted this. Yeah, that will rub for sure.
Now If I put on 2.5 inch level kit to fix the rake on the truck, then I might be able to do that 65.
Hmmm...back to the drawing board.

I had Pirelli 275/55/20 on my F-150 when I got it. I swapped them for Nitto Terra 275/65/20. I put a 1" level kit on it and still had a little bit of rub in a tight turn. I didn't notice much on the speedometer but the ride sure was a lot better.

did you not look into the mud duelers call top line they have tons of off road tires may be they will have what you need :)i have bought tires for my jeep liberty before from them , great price for great tire s and a great warranty. too bad you don't see a lot of gumbo madders much any more. i had them on my scout and never got stuck, plus i didn't need a winch. on the Mississippi river gumbo mud.

Personally, I'll never pay the extra for BFG ATs........plenty of same quality tires out there for a good bless

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I put on a lot of highway miles running back and forth with work. But I'm at the club a good bit too and want an AT tire that handles well on the road and in all the rain we get plus some grip for the mud/dirt/gravel roads.
Plus I like the look.
Nitto Terra Grappler is at the top of my list.

Another question:
What comes out to be the best deal you think?
Buy local and get free lifetime rotation/balance service?
Or buy from Discount Tire Direct and pay to have mounted/balanced and then pay to have tires regularly rotated?
I know I can DIY on the rotation, but for me that is a pain and a chore. I have enough chores already. Plus I'd need to buy a good jack and a better tool that the standard tire iron.

Just put some Duratracs on my F250, used to run BFG ATs and Nittos, I really like this tire so far. Much more aggressive tread, yet is quiet on the hwy. MPGS have not changed from the Nittos.

I had 32x11.50 sport kings on my Toyota and they were really good tires. Of course it was a lighter vehicle than yours.
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

I pay a little more to buy local and have the free rotation/balance plus I have come out on the plus side several times when I have had to use the road hazard.

Nitto makes a 275/55 R20. Best bang for the buck as far as i'm concerned. I swapped to Nitto Terra Grapplers after having a set of BFG AT's last time. I like them just as well, they ride just as good and they cost a good bit less. I won't be going back to the BFG's. I only got about 50,000 miles on the set of BFG's.

If your wanting the bfg at's and your running a 275/55/r20 which is a 32x10.8x20 why not get the bfg at 285/55/r20 which is a 32x11.2x20. That's the tire you want and it will fit.
